Randy Edelman has an endless array of big moments in his career that herald great significance and call for us to pause and acknowledge their importance. This song is one of those moments. Sonically and lyrically “Young England” screams diamonds and platinum and manifests the allure, charisma, charm and sensitivity of its creator.
Edelman’s piano arrangement is opulent, ostentatiously magnificent on every single plane. His words outline the soul of the past. The unknowing children who would be setting the trends. Edelman doesn’t just show people the way the world is but rather paints a picture of what it could be, all embedded in his music for over 100 film and television soundtracks including that of “My Cousin Vinny”, “Ghostbusters ll”, “Dragonheart”, “Last of the Mohicans”, “Gettysburg”, “Come See Paradise”, and the theme from the hit series “MacGyver”, just to name a very small few. As a pop sensation, he manifested his talents in the depths of England’s pop culture revolution, guesting on the classic British charting television show “Top of the Pops”, with his sublime hits, “Uptown, Uptempo Woman” and “Concrete and Clay.” The most prominent and well-known artists covered his songs as well, including Barry Manilow, Patti LaBelle, Nelly, Olivia Newton-John, The Carpenters, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Willy Nelson, Dionne Warwick, and again a list too vast to mention.
