Last night I ventured into the realm of horror once again as Hellraiser’s 4K restoration was screened at Cineworld. The infamously nightmarish world created by Clive Barker is one of those movies that I’ve seen so many times but never on the big screen.
The experience of one of horror’s most iconic films in all its devilish glory on the big screen is certainly something that I’ve always wanted to be part of and the Hellraiser 4K Restoration screening was the perfect opportunity to take in the cinematic horror experience.
The 36-year-old horror movie still packs a punch with the gore and the physical effects, these stomach-churning scenes as Frank returns look stunning in the 4K restoration with vibrant colours and clarity that certainly brings the movie back to life, much like Frank, on the big screen.
I love that we get the chance to relive some of the cinema re-releases from yesteryear at the moment and I’m really glad that I didn’t miss the chance to see this one on the big screen. Hellraiser isn’t going to be for everyone and it may not have the scares that it had when it was first released, but it certainly shows how horror movies used to be back in the 80s and it is still a favourite of many horror movie fans.
