HRH Prog XI Announced for The O2 Academy in Leeds!
Bringing in some of the bands from the postponed HRH Prog 9, this incredible lineup will take to the stage for HRH Prog’s first-ever outing at The O2 Academy in Leeds. Prince Albert may have opened it in 1885, but HRH Prog are on their way with a killer show in tow.
It bears repeating – HRH Prog X and XI are all about legends…and legends don’t come any bigger than Yes keyboard wizard – songwriter-producer – TV and radio presenter and author Rick Wakeman. With 90 solo albums to his name, Rick continues to lead the way in British prog, having released his latest creation “Piano Odyssey” in 2018. We are humbly honoured to welcome a genuine rock icon to HRH Prog XI and Rick is bringing his full band to the O2 Academy in Leeds – so expect a set brim-full of music from a career spanning 5 decades plus perhaps progressive takes on a rock classic or two. We honestly can’t wait for this!
Joining Rick Wakeman in Leeds are Wishbone Ash. From the heady days of the 70s, Wishbone Ash has been – and remain – at the forefront of twin-lead guitar progressive blues-rock. Their 1972 classic “Argus” is still as great a listen today as it was then, as anyone with a record deck and the original version on LP can testify! Bang-up to date, and Wishbone Ash’s 23rd studio album – “Coat of Arms” – is also an absolute belter. Under the stewardship of Andy Powell, they continue to be a major live act and will bring Saturday night at HRH Prog XI to a triumphant close!
HRH Prog XI welcomes one of the most respected rock drummers in the world – Carl Palmer. Carl is best known for being the man behind the sticks for the legendary prog-rock act Emerson Lake and Palmer – possibly the most successful prog band of the ‘70s. Every rock fan will be familiar with ‘Lucky Man’ and ‘Fanfare for the Common Man’. Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy take to the stage at the O2 Academy Leeds for HRH Prog XI in April 2021.
Still one of the premier live prog-rock acts in the country, Pendragon join us in Leeds for Prog XI. Peers of the likes of Marillion, Pallas and IQ, Pendragon have forged their unique path since their debut album “The Jewel” was released in 1985. 16 albums later, and with new release “Love Over Fear” released in February 2020 proving the band are still as active as ever, we welcome Pendragon back to the HRH Prog family.
Focus fly in from Holland to join us next April. Best known of course for their 1971 hit “Hocus Pocus”, the guys are still very much active having released their latest album “Focus 11” in 2019 to critical acclaim.
As if that wasn’t enough, HRH Prog XI will bring you Hawklords who were simply incredible at HRH Prog VIII, the amazing Karnataka, The Spacelords, This Winter Machine, Nth Ascension, Spriggan Mist, The Fierce and The Dead, The Room, Psychic Lemon, Moongoose, Bloody Mallard, Monkey Trial and the always highly entertaining Hats Off Gentlemen, It’s Adequate.
