It’s finally here folks, the Road House trailer has finally dropped along with some teaser stills and the poster art featuring Jake Gyllenhaal.
In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems. The movie is based on the Motion Picture “Road House” Screenplay by David Lee Henry and Hilary Henkin and story By Anthony Bagarozzi & Charles Mondry and David Lee Henry.
The new version of the classic movie features a superb cast including Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, Conor McGregor, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp, Darren Barnet, Dominique Columbus, Bob Menery, Catfish Jean, Kevin Carroll, Travis Van Winkle and Hannah Lanier.
Sadly it seems that Road House won’t be hitting the big screen, which is a bit of a disappointment but it will be streaming globally on Prime Video on the 21st of March.
The Original Road House was released in 1989 and starred Patrick Swayze in the lead role, showcasing his versatility as an actor beyond his iconic roles in romantic and dance-centric films. Directed by Rowdy Herrington, the movie follows the story of James Dalton, a professional bouncer with a reputation for cleaning up the roughest bars in the country. When Dalton is hired to restore order at the Double Deuce, a notorious roadside bar in a small Missouri town, he finds himself in the midst of a dangerous and corrupt world. As Dalton takes on the task of transforming the chaotic establishment, he faces a web of criminal elements, local thugs, and a ruthless businessman, all of which escalates into a thrilling and action-packed narrative.
Patrick Swayze delivered a charismatic and physically demanding performance as James Dalton, seamlessly blending his martial arts skills with a rugged charm. The film gained a cult following for its intense fight sequences, memorable one-liners, and Swayze’s charismatic portrayal of a tough, yet compassionate, bouncer. “Road House” has become a classic in the action genre, not only for its entertaining and adrenaline-pumping moments but also for its contribution to Swayze’s legacy as an action star.
It’s going to be interesting comparing Swayze’s movie to the new version.
