Back in the 70s Motorsport and in particular formula one was so much different from what it is today, suffice to say many drivers sadly lost their lives for the sake of a need for speed.
But during this time two drivers stood out much more in the public eye than any other driver, James Hunt and Niki Lauda.
Their on and off track life was very much the talk of the world, Ron Howard has taken the Hunt vs Lauda world is brought to the screen with a passion that only Howard can do.
The first thing that catches your eye with Rush is how much Chris Hemsworth looks like James Hunt and Daniel Brühl is like Niki Lauda actor look like their real-life counter parts.
Set in the years leading up to the Lauda’s tragic accident, the film shows the glamorous life style that Hunt led, fast cars, fast woman and the love of the sport, it also shows the difference between Hunt and Lauda with Lauda being a more methodical driver with a passion for getting everything right!
The closer you are to death, the more alive you feel!
The set pieces with the Formula One cars are superb with the roar of the powerful engines blasting out of the 5.1 audio mix, giving you a feeling of being at an event and the sensation of the chest pounding power of the cars as they race throughout the rivals history.
With a running time of just over 2 hours, you’d think that a film like this would be a bore to watch, but far from it, with superb camera work and lighting, the production of the film is a thrill to watch, Hemsworth and Brühl have that on-screen presence that Hunt and Lauda would have had back in the 70s.
Ron Howard has surpassed himself on this one, who would have thought that the young boy from Happy Days, would ever come to this!
Rush is a must see movie, not just only for Motor sport fans but is also great for the eye candy of Hemsworth. My recommendation is feel the “Rush” and check out this movie, but make sure you are strapped in, you’re in for the ride of your life!
