Sad news as former Hollywood star of the 1930s, Shirley Temple, died on Monday night at the age of 85. Temple passed away at her home and was surrounded by her family.

Shirley Temple is probably best known for her curls as a small child and singing the now famous song, “On The Good Ship Lollipop“, from the movie “Bright Eyes” from 1934, which she also choreographed for the film at the tender age of 6! She also received the first Juvenile Academy Award.
Born in 1928, Shirley Temple was already a popular by the age of three and had already starred in 40 films by the age of thirteen, her popularity made her the biggest box office success of the time of the Great Depression, bringing so much happiness to theatre goers.
Temple retired from the big screen at the early age of 22, but she stayed active in the world of television, sometime later she took on the mantel of a politician and became first female Chief of Protocol of the US from 1976 to 1977 and the US Ambassador to Czechoslovakia from 1989 to 1992.

Temple is number 18 in the American Film Institute list of the top 25 female stars of all time and this only goes to show that she was indeed a true star of Hollywood.
