Signature Entertainment has some great movies set for release in August with 14 releases, yes 14, to keep you entertained at the cinemas and home via their digital releases on various platforms including Amazon Prime.
The True Don Quixote (84mins)
Four hundred years in the making, The True Don Quixote brings Cervantes’ classic tale to contemporary life, plopped in the wilds of Louisiana. Lonely, unemployed and adrift, Danny Kehoe (Tim Blake Nelson, O Brother, Where Art Thou), escapes so far into the stories of medieval knights that he loses himself completely in their wondrous tales. Believing he is a great knight, he straps on his cardboard armour, grabs a sword and, with his loyal squire Sancho (Jacob Batalon, Spider-Man Homecoming) by his side, embarks on a quest to find glory, slay monsters, and spread hope all across the neighbourhood. Moonbound (85mins)
Wall-E meets Over the Moon, in Moonbound an out-of-this-world family adventure. This gorgeous and charming new feature animation follows one boy and his sister on a race against time to restore peace to the Milky Way. Based on one of Germany’s most popular children’s books, Moonbound tells the story of little Pete who embarks on an enchanting journey together with June bug Mr. Zoomzeman and the Sandman to rescue his little sister from the evil Moon Man. The Auschwitz Escape (AKA The Auschwitz Report) Cert 15, 94mins
Slovakia’s Oscar submission for best international film tells the true story of two Auschwitz prisoners (Noel Czuczor and Peter Ondrejicka) who escaped hell and provided a rare first-hand and shocking report of genocide at the camp. After meticulous planning and with the help and resilience of their fellow prisoners, they manage to escape. While the inmates they had left behind courageously stand their ground against the Nazi camp officers, the two men are driven to survive by the hope that their evidence could save lives. Emaciated and hurt, they make their way through the rugged mountains back to Slovakia ready to share their horrific report to the United States Red Cross. Gripping and harrowing at every turn, The Auschwitz Escape honours the power of truth in a world that might not be ready to hear it. Red Soil
Red Soil is a timely and edge-of-your-seat thriller. This Dardenne brothers-produced thriller, directed by Farid Bentoumi, isreminiscent of Erin Brockovich or Dark Waters, and stars Zita Hanrot (The Hookup Plan), Olivier Gourmet (The Kid with a Bike) andCéline Sallette (The Returned). Nour (Hanrot), a young nurse, finds a job running the infirmary at the chemical plant where her dad (Sami Bouajila) has been labouring for 30 years. She soon discovers a vast cover-up involving toxic waste dumping, cancer victims and a corrupt local government. Now the young woman will have to choose between hiding the truth for her father’s sake or becoming a whistleblower and speak out against corporate greed to uncover the local pollution scandal.

The Bike Thief (Cert 12, 79mins)
The Bike Thief is a gritty British drama-thriller starring Alec Secareanu (Ammonite, God’s Own Country) and Anamaria Marinca (4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days). The Rider is an ordinary, hard-working man. Everything he does is done to protect and support his family. He works as a delivery driver for a local Pizza restaurant, which happens to be owned and run by his landlord. The Rider’s wife, Elena, spends her days cleaning grand houses and caring for their two children. When the Rider’s moped is stolen, his world turns upside down and a race against time starts to recover the source of his livelihood. The Bike Thief was written and directed by Matt Chambers and features an original soundtrack by G. Hastings also of Scottish Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers. The film’s premise is a homage to Vittorio De Sica’s classic Bicycle Thieves (1948).

Confession
One church. One priest. A wounded man and his loaded gun. Confession is an intense thriller played in real-time during one fateful night when a vengeful confession must occur. It’s nighttime, late. Deed of Death

The Toll (82mins)

Demonic (Cert 18, 105mins)
Demonic is the first feature film from renowned genre director Neill Blomkamp since 2015’s Chappie. Acclaimed director and writer Blomkamp exploded onto the film world with District 9 in 2009, which was produced by Peter Jackson and nominated for four Academy Awards™ including Best Picture. Between those two releases came 2013’s hit science-fiction epic Elysium starring Matt Damon. Demonic is a supernatural possession horror that follows a young woman who unleashes a terrifying demon as she enters the mind of her comatose, serial killer mother.
