So let’s take a look at the Premieres that will be showing on Sky Cinema this month, kicking off with some Sky Original Movies.
The Tiger Rising, a Sky Original
Premiering on Sky Cinema on 6 February, the film is based on a New York Times best-selling book. Starting a new life in rural Florida at the Kentucky Star Motel, reserved 12-year-old Rob Horton lets his imagination run wild, a contrast to his sad reality of a bullied boy who just lost his mother. One day, however, his reality is met with something more whimsical than his own mind can ever desire: a full-grown Bengal tiger, hidden in the woods and held captive by the mean spirited motel owner, Beauchamp (Dennis Quaid). With the help of a wise and mysterious maid, Willie May (Queen Latifah) and the stubborn new girl in school Sistine, Rob must decide if to set the tiger free and in turn uncage his emotional grief.
Book of Love, a Sky Original
In Book of Love, young, uptight English writer Henry’s (Sam Claflin) novel is a resolute failure.? He is delighted to find out his book is a surprise hit in Mexico but when he is invited there to promote it, he soon discovers why; his Spanish translator Maria (Veronica Echegui) has rewritten his dull book as an erotic novel.? Henry is furious, and even more so when his publisher insists he and Maria conduct a book tour across Mexico together.? Opposites attract and the chemistry between the couple ensures sparks fly.

Old Henry, a Sky Original
A brooding, twisty and classically executed western featuring outstanding performances from Tim Blake Nelson (O Brother, Where Art Though?) and Stephen Dorff (Blade). Old Henry follows a widowed farmer and his son who, when they warily take in a mysterious, injured man with a satchel of cash, soon live to regret their decision when wild-west chaos descends on their sleepy farmhouse. When a posse of men claiming to be the law come for the money, the farmer must decide who to trust. Defending against a siege of his homestead, he reveals a talent for gunslinging that surprises everyone, calling his true identity into question.

The Desperate Hour, a Sky Original
Amy Carr (Naomi Watts) is out for what should have been a restorative morning run when a friend calls with terrifying news: authorities are in pursuit of an active shooter, and her teenage son, Noah, may be caught in the middle. Deep within a network of forest paths surrounding her home, miles from town and nearly overwhelmed by panic, Amy refuses to succumb to hopelessness. With her smartphone as her sole means of intervention, she will draw upon every resource she can think of to ensure that her son survives the attack.

Space Jam: A New Legacy

When LeBron and his young son Dom are trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I., LeBron must get them home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over the A.I.’s digitized champions on the court: a powered-up roster of professional basketball stars as you’ve never seen them before. It’s Tunes versus Goons in the highest-stakes challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself. The ready-for-action Tunes destroy convention, supercharge their unique talents and surprise even “King” James by playing the game their own way.

Dreamhorse
The true story of a village in the Welsh valleys where Jan, a supermarket cashier and barmaid, inspires her community to breed and raise a racehorse. From those humble beginnings the horse, who they name ‘Dream Alliance’, beats all the odds and goes on to become a champion.

Kimi
An agoraphobic tech worker must face her greatest fear as she attempts to uncover a violent crime. Stars Zoë Kravitz and Rita Wilson.

With the 14th of February almost upon us, there will be a Valentine Collection with a chance to Swoon at Sky Cinema’s Valentines hits. Whether your heart is sent into flutters by romantic classics An Officer and a Gentleman, Ghost, and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, or noughties favourites like Eat Pray Love, Hitch and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Sky Cinema Valentine’s has it all. 7 – 20 February
But if you arent that romantic and RomComs aren’t your thing, Sky Cinema Killer Movies has got you covered. American Psycho, Candyman, Final Destination, The Invisible Man, Resident Evil and No Country for Old Men are amongst the thrillers showcasing on Killer Movies from 28 January – 6 February.
