Gareth Howatson is a UK based songwriter. Gareth has had previous singles featured on numerous radio stations, one main station being BBC Radio Wales with Gareth being featured BBC Introducing Artist of The Week.

Gareth has now introduced us to his new track ‘Snakes’. This is an amazing track from Gareth, upbeat, but really taps into feelings as he says both “positive and negative mental health”.

An absolute belter of a track, and amazing lyrics to go by too. And with this track, I do get that “it’s alright”, it’s going to be okay, as we are not alone. We are in this together. And it is so relatable with the way the current situation is at this moment in time.

Gareth wrote this song primarily about fluctuations in feelings related to both positive and negative mental health. The song floats in and out of different narratives, some verses from the perspective of someone experiencing the usual pressures of growing up, one example being transitioning/settling for a working lifestyle and the expectations that come alongside this. Other sections of the song jump back into his personal perspective of friends around him experiencing dips in their moods, and the feelings and responsibilities that come alongside this, with the reflection of us dealing with these changes together. The message of the song is ‘It’s alright’. Gareth wanted to openly talk about these experiences, but portray an emotional reaction that it is okay. Everything that’s talked about is natural, and that makes it a lot easier to face.

Hopefully one day would love to hear this live at a gig, where we can all enjoy this particular track together.

I would rate Gareth Howatson’s track as a 5 out of 5, not just for the lyrics, but the feel-good upbeat music that goes with it.
