With Autumn here we take a look at some of the new releases from Sony Home Entertainment with a collection of the movies that are being released for you to watch at home this Sony Autumn.

French Exit – Monday 20th September
From a screenplay by Patrick Dewitt, based on his novel of the same name, FRENCH EXIT is reimagined for the screen with tantalising detail. Collaborating again with DeWitt, Director Azazel Jacobs (The Lovers) brings the film to life with thoughtful and precise direction.
Having premiered at The New York Film Festival, Michelle Pfeiffer’s (Murder On The Orient Express) embodiment of sardonic widowed Manhattan heiress Frances Price, earned her a Golden Globe nomination. The film also stars Lucas Hedges (Honey Boy) as her aloof son Malcom, along with Valerie Mahaffey (TV’s “Dead to Me”), Imogen Poots (The Father), Susan Coyne (TV’s “Cardinal”), Danielle MacDonald (Dumplin’), Isaach de Bankolé (Black Panther) and Tracy Letts (Little Women). Synopsis:
“My plan was to die before the money ran out,” says 60-year-old, penniless Manhattan socialite Frances Price (Michelle Pfeiffer), but things didn’t go as planned. Her husband, Franklin, has been dead for 12 years. With his vast inheritance gone, she cashes in the last of her possessions and resolves to live out her twilight days anonymously in a borrowed apartment in Paris, accompanied by her directionless son, Malcolm (Lucas Hedges), and a cat named Small Frank—who may or may not embody the spirit of Frances’ dead husband.

I Carry You With Me – Monday 20th September

I CARRY YOU WITH ME premiered at the Sundance Film Festival where it won both the NEXT Innovator and Audience Awards and details the immigrant story of two Mexican migrants who, facing adversity, decide to chase their ‘American dream’ in search of a better life free of prejudices. The film documents this couple’s lives up to present day, exposing what gets left behind in the pursuit of something better, and the isolation and nostalgia for home that leaves these immigrants feeling lost between Mexico and the United States. I CARRY YOU WITH ME is documentary filmmaker, Heidi Ewing’s (Jesus Camp) fictional debut. Drawing from a true story, Ewing magnificently employs a hybrid storytelling style by fusing documentary filmmaking and narrative storytelling to immerse and captivate the audience in this tale of adversity and heart.

Based on a true story, this decades spanning romance between an aspiring chef (Armando Espitia) and a teacher (Christian Vázquez) follows their treacherous journey from Mexico to New York with dreams, hopes, and memories in tow.

Together Together – Monday 20th September
Sweet, sensitive and insightful, romantic comedy TOGETHER TOGETHERis available to Download & Keep and to Rent on Digital on September 20 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
Starring Ed Helms (The Hangover), Patti Harrison (TV’s “Shrill”), Tig Notario (“One Mississippi”) and Julio Torres (“Shrill”), and written and directed by Nikole Beckwith, this funny and poignant tale follows young loner Anna (Patti Harrison) when she is hired as the gestational surrogate for Matt (Ed Helms), a single man in his 40s who wants a child. The two strangers come to realize this unexpected relationship will quickly challenge their perceptions of connection, boundaries, and the particulars of love.

The Truffle Hunters – Monday 27th September
Executive produced by Call Me By Your Name’s Luca Guadagnino and from director duo Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw, who also serve as writers and cinematographers, comes the thoughtful and charming THE TRUFFLE HUNTERS. This enchanting otherworldly documentary explores the mysterious and secretive profession of truffle hunting, giving an empathetic glimpse into the real lives of the few remaining elderly foraging eccentrics working in this age old, but dying, tradition. Synopsis:
Deep in the forests of Piedmont, Italy, a handful of men, seventy or eighty years young, hunt for the rare and expensive white Alba truffle—which to date has resisted all of modern science’s efforts at cultivation. They’re guided by a secret culture and training passed down through generations, as well as by the noses of their cherished and expertly trained dogs. They live a simpler, slower way of life, in harmony with their loyal animals and their picture-perfect land, seemingly straight out of a fairy tale. They’re untethered to cell phone screens or the Internet, opting instead to make their food and drink by hand and prioritizing in-person connections and community.
The demand for white truffles increases year after year, even as the supply decreases. As a result of climate change, deforestation, and the lack of young people taking up the mantle, the truffle hunters’ secrets are more coveted than ever. However, as it soon becomes clear, these ageing men may just hold something much more valuable than even this prized delicacy: the secret to a rich and meaningful life.

The World To Come – Monday 11th October

Somewhere along the mid-19th century American East Coast frontier, two neighbouring couples battle hardship and isolation, witnessed by a splendid yet testing landscape, challenging them both physically and psychologically. Based on the novel of the same name by Jim Shepard, THE WORLD TO COME has been reimagined for the screen by Shepard in collaboration with Ron Hansen (The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford) and is directed by Mona Fastvold (The Sleepwalker).
Synopsis:
In this frontier romance, framed by the four seasons and set against the backdrop of rugged terrain, Abigail (Katherine Waterston), a farmer’s wife, and her new neighbour Tallie (Vanessa Kirby) find themselves powerfully, irrevocably drawn to each other. As grieving Abigail tends to the needs of her taciturn husband Dyer (Casey Affleck) and Tallie bristles at the jealous control of her husband Finney (Christopher Abbott), both women are illuminated and liberated by their intense bond, filling a void in their lives they never knew existed.
