The trailer launched for Star Wars Origins a few weeks ago to wide fan and critical acclaim. Across social media, it has been viewed over 500,000 times. We featured it here on Blazing Minds, the trailer had reaction videos uploaded to YouTube and sent certain fans into a frenzy of how the Star Wars and Indiana Jones universes could be combined into a 20-minute film.

We had the chance to check out the film prior to its release and I was intrigued by how the story and the worlds of Indiana Jones and the Star Wars Saga one short movie and how everything would pull together.
Over the years we have seen many fan-made films and Star Wars Origins looks likely to be one of the most expensive fan films ever made and it’s no surprise that the film has such amazing looking quality to it thanks to an award-winning team with life long STAR WARS fans; writer/director Phil Hawkins (@philmblog) and Executive Producer Gary Cowan of Velvet Film Production (@VelvetFilm).

As I mentioned earlier here at Blazing Minds we got a chance to check out Star Wars Origins prior to its release today and with a full widescreen presentation and being filmed in the Sahara Desert, Morocco, Star Wars Origins looks absolutely stunning, right from the very start of the film you get that feeling that this is a true Star Wars film and although it is a fan-made film it sent chills down my spine right from the opening credits.
The team behind the film have spent three years putting this, what can only be described as a, masterpiece together, with a great cast including Marie Everett (WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY, Netflix), Jamie Costa (HAN SOLO: A SMUGGLER’S TRADE, HISHE), Hadrian Howard (THE MUMMY, MI ROGUE NATION) and Philip Walker, the film brings us a look at a collision of worlds and the mystery of the beginning of Star Wars!

What we have with Star Wars Origins is a movie that was made with a passion, from the look of the film thanks to the superb cinematography from David Meadows (Jonathan Creek, Silent Witness) to the sound and fantastic soundtrack from Richard Bodgers (The Butterfly Tattoo), this is a film that is must for any Star Wars fan, me being one of them. There are certainly some wow factor moments throughout the short film, which I don’t really want to go into, just check out Star Wars Origins for yourself and see what I mean, but suffice to say you will be sitting at the end of the film with your jaw open and wanting so much more.
With Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker making its way to Cinemas, Star Wars Origins is a fantastic addition to the world of Star Wars and I, personally, think that this is a short movie that should be shown in cinemas along with Rise of Skywalker, now what we need is for Phil Hawkins to be snapped up for a full-length Star Wars movie, credit is due to this talented director.

Phil’s story for Star Wars Origins keeps you gripped from start to finish, with the final part of the film bringing you that WOW factor, with a great cast, special effects that will blow you away for a fan-made film and superb soundtrack, Star Wars Origins is one of those rare films, be it full-length or short-length that can’t I give it anything less than full marks!
