Today I not only bring you news of the launch of the Sykehouse Film Festival but also a very special announcement about the event that has been set up to reward international filmmakers that takes place this June at Sykehouse.
The Sykehouse International Film Festival was established with the aim of honouring exceptional films and screenplays created by Samantha Lee Howe, an acclaimed screenwriter and author with multiple awards to her name. Samantha and her team share a deep love for film and storytelling and envisioned the festival as a platform to showcase independent films that otherwise might not receive the recognition they deserve.
The new event is ready to take Films and Screenplays which will be judged by a panel of committed film-o-philes, and each round will award a BEST and RUNNER-UP in the four categories:
- BEST THRILLER
- BEST HORROR
- BEST SHORT FILM
- BEST SCREENPLAY
- BEST SHORT SCREENPLAY
I’m very pleased to announce that I have been asked by Sam to be one of the judges for the Sykehouse Film Festival and it’s an honour to be asked to be part of this brand-new venture. Not only will I be taking on the mantle of judge but I’m also very pleased to say that I will be heading to the event which be on the 29th of June 2024 at The Old George Pub and Between Rivers Glamping Site in Sykehouse.
Other judges for the Film Festival are:
David J Howe – author and historian, who has been reviewing and writing about film since the eighties.
Rosie Nagaty & John Nagaty – self-confessed film addicts! Rosie and John are driven entrepreneurs who have carved their own path in the entertainment industry and now run The Old George Pub and Between Rivers Glamping site.
The event is going to be one for film fans and filmmakers to get involved with and tickets and more information about the Film Festival are available now from the website. You will also find information on the site about the rules, how to submit your film and where you can stay to enjoy the event, you can also follow the FB page.
