IMAX has announced that Amazon Studios’ The Aeronauts, distributed by Entertainment One, will be specially formatted exclusively for IMAX cinemas in the UK. For select key sequences of the film, approximately 1 hour, the screen will expand and IMAX audiences will see up to 26% more picture than in standard cinemas.
Fans will want to make sure they don’t miss seeing The Aeronauts in the most impressive and breathtaking cinematic experience available – in IMAX – when it opens in cinemas November 4 for a limited run.

In addition to featuring IMAX expanded aspect ratio (26% more picture on screen), the IMAX release of The Aeronauts will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie. Fans can get their advance IMAX tickets here.

Set in 1862, The Aeronauts follows wealthy young widow Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) and headstrong scientist James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne), as they mount a balloon expedition to fly higher than anyone in history. This is a journey to the very edge of existence, where the air is thin and the chances of survival are slim. As their perilous ascent reveals their true selves, these unlikely pair discover things about each other – and themselves – that helps each of them find their place in the world they have left behind.
