We’re getting a flow of Cineworld Unlimited Screening at the moment and we got the chance for an early screening (of a day) of The Beekeeper, A Sky Original film starring Jason Statham, coming to UK Cinemas on 12 January 2024.
In The Beekeeper, one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers”. The film stars Jason Statham, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Minnie Driver, with Phylicia Rashad and Jeremy Irons.
Now you know what you are going to get when you go to see a movie starring Jason Statham, you are usually guaranteed plenty of action and some good fight choreography, the Beekeeper certainly doesn’t fail on both of these aspects as Statham proceeds to kick some arse throughout the movie.
But despite the action, The Beekeeper puts it to the scammers out there as Adam Clay (Statham) goes on the rampage to “protect the hive” from the big business scammers that have caused the death of Eolise Parker (Phylicia Rashad) who he was renting a barn from to retire and just look after his bees and make honey.
But there is more to Clay than we know and as the movie progresses with some great action pieces we learn that Clay is part of a unit that even the FBI has no clue about and he is taking his revenge on the scammers and he’s not going to stop until he gets to the head of who is stealing money from the vulnerable.
The Beekeeper is one of those movies that reminds me so much of some of the 80s action flicks that I love so much and used to spend so much time watching in my local cinema, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to follow the plot and the action just builds up as you go along.
I did find myself loathing Millenial Derek Danforth (Josh Hutcherson) character as he just came across as not giving a damn about those that he was hurting and just wanted money and nothing else, but it’s good to have a villain in a movie that you can hate and this adds to the feelings of “I hope this guy gets what he deserves!”
The Beekeeper certainly entertained me for its 1h 45m runtime and director David Ayer has brought us a rather fun movie, it’s not going to be a film for everyone, but if you just want to escape from the world for a while and just kick back with an action movie where Jason Statham does what he probably does best then this is certainly a movie to check out.
Does The Beekeeper Have A Post-Credits Scene?
No, The Beekeeper doesn’t have a post-credits scene as the end of the movie doesn’t need one. But I’m sure that at some point depending on how the movie does at the box office it could easily get a The Beekeeper 2 sequel!
