THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD offers a bold, darker reimagining of the legendary outlaw, stripping away the familiar myth to reveal a far more human and haunted figure at its centre. Set firmly in its historical period, the film follows Robin Hood at the end of his journey rather than the beginning — a man weighed down by years of violence, bloodshed and hard choices made in the name of survival rather than heroism.
Now a battle-worn loner, Robin is forced to confront the consequences of his past when he is gravely injured in a brutal confrontation he believes will be his last. No longer the symbol of hope or rebellion, he finds himself vulnerable, broken and at the mercy of fate. Rescued by a mysterious woman, Robin is offered something he never expected: the possibility of redemption. As he drifts between life and death, the film explores themes of guilt, morality and whether true salvation is possible for a man who has lived so long outside the law.
Directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One), the film promises an intimate, character-driven take on the legend, favouring emotional weight and realism over romanticised folklore. Hugh Jackman (Deadpool & Wolverine, The Greatest Showman) leads the cast as an older, hardened Robin Hood, bringing gravitas and physicality to the role. He is joined by Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, 28 Days Later), Bill Skarsgård (IT, Nosferatu), Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus, Opus) and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place Part II, Hamnet), rounding out a strong ensemble that hints at complex relationships and moral ambiguity.
