Review: The Meg 2 The Trench in 4DX 3D is one heck of a ride!

Who’s idea was it to see The Meg 2: The Trench in 4DX 3D, oh wait, that would have been me, it’s been a while since I’ve been to a 4DX screening that is like a rollercoaster ride that throws you around so much that you end up leaving your seat and getting soaked!

The Meg 2: The Trench” is the sequel to the popular movie “The Meg.” Directed by Jon Turteltaub, this action-packed film takes you on a heart-pounding adventure deep into the treacherous depths of the ocean. As the story unfolds, a team of skilled researchers dare to venture into uncharted waters, only to face new and terrifying prehistoric creatures.

The Meg 2 The Trench Review - Meg vs Statham on JetSki

With stunning visuals brought to life in 4DX 3D, this movie is an immersive cinematic experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat, leaving you exhilarated and soaked.

I have to say that The Meg 2: The Trench is a completely bonkers movie, it’s completely far-fetched and ridiculous, but to be honest, isn’t that what we were all expecting from a movie that maybe should be subtitled “Statham Vs the Meg 2”? This is one of those movies that you love to hate, it certainly takes you on a wild ride especially if you see the movie in 4DX 3D, there are several action sequences in the movie where the 4DX seats are moving so much that you think to yourself, “why didn’t they fit seatbelts to these things”.

It’s not just the movement, there is so much water spraying around that may want to take in a raincoat or ask at the cinema if they have any of those disposable plastic bags to wear.

But I have to say that the 4DX 3D made the movie more fun, it really makes you feel like you are in the think of the action, as not 1 or 2, but 3, Megs take us on an adventure underwater and back to land in what could be described a reboot of the first movie but with a heck of lot more madness!

If I’d seen the movie in standard 2D I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much but the adrenalin certainly pumps as you are thrown around the seat throughout the movie if you get travel sick then you may want to miss out on the 4DX.

The Meg 2 The Trench Review - Pippin

The Meg 2: The Trench is one of those movies that has been panned by some and praised by others, I would have to say I’m on the fence with this one, the 4DX 3D certainly made the movie a lot of fun, but it still has one of the daftest stories that I’ve seen in a movie for a long time.

The sequel to the 2018 blockbuster arrives for Premium Digital Ownership on September 4, 2023 and 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD arrive on October 16, 2023.
