Based upon the memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Hawking, The Theory of Everything, tells the wonderful story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, Professor Stephen Hawking.
After falling in love in 1963 at Cambridge University, Stephen (Played by Eddie Redmayne) and Jane’s (Played by Felicity Jones) lives are tuned upside as they are given the heart-wrenching news that Stephen, at the tender age of 21, is diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Like anyone in love, the couple decide to battle the illness together and work hand in hand to defy all the impossible odds and break ground in new medicine and science to achieve more than they could ever have dreamed of.
The Theory of Everything is a film that certainly tugs at the heart-strings, a real emotional ride through the world that Stephen and Jane had to go through with the battle against Motor Neurone Disease, Eddie Redmayne’s performance is superb and he certainly grasps the feel of Stephen Hawking throughout the film in his performance.
This is certainly one of those films that sticks with you after seeing it, the Blu-ray version, which is out on the 11th May, has a great look to the quality of the film, it also includes several deleted scenes and a fascinating feature, Becoming The Hawkings.
The Theory of Everything is directed by Academy Award-winner James Marsh (Man on Wire, Shadow Dancer) and starring Golden Globe and BAFTA Best Actor winner and Academy Award nominated Best Actor Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables, My Week With Marulyn) and Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Award nominated Felicity Jones (The Invisible Woman, Like Crazy), this has to be one of those movies that you have in your DVD or Blu-ray collection, it’s a joy to watch.
The Theory of Everything will be available on Blu-ray and DVD from the 11th May, it will also be available on Digital Download on the 27th April.
