It was a trip over to Cineworld IMAX in Broughton for a screening of Transformers The Last Knight in 3D and while we were there we caught up with Transformers Car Hire who told us a little about Bumblebee and Barricade that were visiting the cinema.
While at Cineworld TCH is raising funds for the UK Sepsis Trust, Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to infection causes injury to its own tissues and organs. Common signs and symptoms include fever, increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, and confusion. (Source).
So after chatting with TCH it was time to grab a Starbucks Caramel Latte and then head into screen 11 for the 3D IMAX screening of Transformers The Last Knight, with so many mixed reviews going around, many being very negative, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Now before I start I have to say I do like the Transformers movies, yes all of them, at the end of the day they are big robots kicking proverbial backsides and creating carnage, not something you see every day, so nice to expect reality from time to time.
This is the fifth movie in the series and I had to see the film in IMAX as it had been filmed with IMAX cameras, so the huge screen would certainly be a film like this on, although I was little disappointed that Michael Bay hadn’t opted to go with any “frame breaking” even though there were times that the screen ratio did change.
A film like this would have worked great in IMAX 3D with “frame breaking” there were so many action sequences where it would have worked very well, but a small niggle to say the least.
Transformers: The Last Knight Review
We now find that humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone and the key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.
The film starts in the “dark ages” as we are introduced to King Arthur and his knights as well as Merlin in a battle that can’t be won, well not without the help of Transformers that are hiding in a crashed ship.
Skip along 1600 years and we are in present day, not everything is going well for the Transformers, the tables have turned and now the Transformers aren’t as welcome as they used to be.
Mark Wahlberg reprises his role of Cade Yaeger with his family of Autobots, they fight for survival and on the run from the TFR!
Anthony Hopkins joins the cast as Sir Edmund Burton, a role which kind of reminded of his character in RED 2, eccentric and maybe a bit mad.
This movie is a film that as I mentioned earlier has had mixed reviews with many saying that they didn’t have clue what was going on, but to be honest, it was easy to follow and a rather simple storyline, it’s a typical Transformers/Michael Bay movie, full of over the top action, CGI that we’ve come to expect from the movies, this is a movie that you go to enjoy the action, oh and the Transformers, although I have to say I would have preferred more Optimus Prime.
Transformers: The Last Knight is probably going to go down as a film that was panned, personally I enjoyed it, the film didn’t drag and the 3D IMAX was brilliant, probably not the best in the series, but still enjoyable.
