A couple of months ago, my lovely friends bought me the Tremors Boxset on Blu-ray from my Amazon Wishlist for my birthday, suffice to say I’m a big fan of the franchise, I was over the moon when they surprised me with the set.
Back in 1990, a movie was released that would become a cult movie for fans of the “Graboids”, the movie starring Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward introduced us to the small town of Perfection in Nevada and what we may have thought that the movie was about the creatures living underground and Valentine (Kevin Bacon) and Earl (Fred Ward) fighting to save themselves and the town, was in fact going to take us on a journey of six movies with Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) who would keep the franchise going.

Tremors (1990)
So as I mentioned above this was the first movie that is loved by fans around the world, the first time we headed to Perfection and were introduced to Valentine, Earl and Burt as they fight for their lives against the subterranean Graboids in true B-movie style and lashings are dry comic humour.
The Blu-ray in the set for the first movie looks and sounds great, making the use of the 5.1 surround sound to bring the cinema home. Still, after almost 30 years, the movie is still fun to watch.
Tremors II: Aftershocks
Earl Bassett (Ward) and Burt Gummer (Gross) return for the 1996 sequel, Earl is now a washed-up ex-celebrity and is hired by a Mexican oil company to eradicate a Graboid epidemic that’s killing more people each day. However, the humans aren’t the only one with a new battle plan. The Graboids come back with something a little different for this second outing.
Sadly the Blu-ray in the set for this movie is a little bit of a disappointment, it seems rather grainy in parts and it only has a 2.0 soundtrack, although it does sound good, it does let the box set down a bit.
Tremors 3: Back To Perfection
The now-famous Burt Gummer (Gross) returns to his hometown of Perfection, Nevada for the first time in years, but the deadliest Graboid evolution yet forces him to save the town he swore to protect. Ever get the feeling that the Graboids are just connected to Burt Somehow!
The evolution of the Graboids again takes a step further as we see more of the cycle that the creatures have.
Much like the first two movies, the blu-ray looks good and sounds good with its 5.1 soundtrack.
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins
We take a step back in time with the fourth movie in the box set, The Legend Begins is prequel to Tremors (1990), we find out more about how the town of Perfection, Nevada became founded and how they defended it against the Graboids with the help of Burt Gummer’s ancestor, Hiram (Michael Gross).
An interesting take on the franchise and a nice touch taking us back to Burt’s ancestor, which only goes to show us that these movies are not about Graboids, they are about the Gummers!
The blu-ray is another in the set that looks and sounds good and is fun to watch.
Tremors 5: Bloodlines
We move away from Perfection for the fifth movie as we head on over to South African wildlife reserve where the giant, man-eating Graboids are back and even deadlier than before, as they attack from below and above.
The Graboids have had bt of a makeover in Bloodlines and look a lot more dangerous than their predecessors. Bloodlines also introduces to the new character Travis B. Welker (Jamie Kennedy) it what is a bonkers movie, but hey aren’t they all.
Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell
The sixth movie in the franchise reunites Michael Gross and Jamie Kennedy as they head over to a remote research station in Canada’s Nunavut Territory, not everything is OK with Burt and the researchers and Travis must go up against the new generation of Graboids to save Burt’s life.
Probably one of the better movies in the franchise since the first one and it certainly has its moments of those “Burt-isms” and the usual Tremors comedy.
Again much like the other movies in the Blu-ray set, with the exception of Aftershocks, A Cold Day in Hell looks and sounds good, with the sound bringing in a good mix when it comes to the explosions and Graboid attacks.
Tremors The Complete Collection
If you are a fan of the Tremors franchise, then this is a great set to get hold all the movies in one set. It would be nice to see Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward return in a movie. It is a shame that the TV series never took off.
Kevin Bacon announced through his Instagram account on April 27, 2018, that the show would not be moving forward as the network it was to air decided not to pick it up. At that time, however, a full pilot had been produced.
