Many of you that read the reviews here on Blazing Minds will have seen many of the RealD 3D films, today we’re bringing you a list of the upcoming RealD 3D films that are heading our way this year, from a time long forgotten with Alpha to breaking the internet with Wreck-It Ralph 2.
Alpha – 24 August
Stepping back to the prehistoric past, a young man struggles to return home after being separated from his tribe during a buffalo hunt and finds a similarly lost wolf companion to start a friendship that would change humanity.
The Predator – 12 September
Directed by Shane Black (The Nice Guys, Hawkins in Predator 1987), The Predator sees the ultimate hunters returning to the big screen and to Earth when a young boy accidentally causes what could possibly be the end of the world as we know it, now it’s down to a crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher to save the Earth and defeat the ultimate Predators
Smallfoot – 12 October
A CGI animated comedy starring the voices of Channing Tatum and Gina Rodriguez, the movie sees a Yeti convinced that those elusive “humans” or “Smallfoots” really do exist. As many know CGI RealD 3D movies always look good, so this is going to a good looking family movie in October.
“Smallfoot” is directed by Karey Kirkpatrick, Annie Award-winning director of “Over the Hedge” and Annie nominee for the screenplays for “Chicken Run” and “James and the Giant Peach.” The screenplay is by Kirkpatrick and Clare Sera, screen story by John Requa & Glenn Ficarra and Kirkpatrick, based on the book Yeti Tracks, by Sergio Pablos.
Venom – 5 October
A movie that many have been waiting for and in October the Marvel character, Venom, gets his/its own movie, with the brilliant Tom Hardy in the lead role as Eddie Brock/Venom, this is certainly going to be a movie that will no doubt look good in RealD 3D and here at Blazing Minds HQ we can’t wait to put on those 3D glasses and enjoy the action.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms – 2 November
In November Disney will be taking us on a RealD 3D journey to the four realms and a magical world of gingerbread soldiers and an army of mice, no doubt this is going to be another Disney movie that will delight all ages of movie-goers this November.
The Grinch – 9 November
With the build-up to Christmas getting closer in November, Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), is taking on the lead role as The Grinch in the new CGI animated movie from Illumination Entertainment, yes those same folks that brought us The Minions, this is their eighth movie and you can be sure that it’s going to look good in RealD 3D.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – 16 November
Those of you that saw the first Fantastic Beasts in cinemas and in RealD 3D will remember some of the brilliant fields of depth that the film had, so with the second instalment on the way in November, you can be assured that the film will make the use of the 3D technology and brings some eye-popping moments as Newt (Eddie Redmayne) and Jacob (Dan Fogler) return to a 3D cinema near you in November.
Wreck-It Ralph 2 – 30 November
Watch out as Ralph breaks the Internet in November, it’s been six years after the events of “Wreck-It Ralph,” Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure. Expect lots of video game and pop culture references in this second adventure for Ralph and some Disney Princesses with the voice talents of Ming-Na Wen as Mulan, Mandy More as Rapunzel and many more.
Aquaman – 14 December
A bit of an early Christmas present for fans of the DCEU movies, as finally, Aquaman (Jason Momoa) gets his first movie, directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2). Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and be a hero to the world.
