You may have seen me post about the 3 Minute Film Festival a little while back when I was proud to announce that Blazing Minds would be supporting the event, a weekend of movie and awards at the Wirksworth 3 Minute Film Festival.
It was an early start on Sunday morning as we travelled the 140miles from North Wales over to Wirksworth in Derbyshire, and what a lovely village it is, we caught up with the organiser and got settled to catch a selection of short films that had a run time of 3 minutes or less, hence the 3 Minute Film Festival, the movies were over several locations.
We started off in the quaint little pub called the Feather Star, what a lovely place small and very old village looking, we headed upstairs to watch a selection of films, sadly the projector had other ideas and we watched the films on a tablet, but hey it wasn’t a problem as we could still see the films from directors from all over the world.
Later in the evening, more films were shown at the Royal Oak and at the Feather Star, we would be returning to the Royal Oak on Monday evening for the final movies that had made it through and see who won the awards for the categories.
After a lovely nights sleep in the Travelodge in Alfreton, which was about 20 minutes away from Wirksworth, we headed back over on Monday for a catch-up and chat with Stuart Wheeldon about the evening’s showing and voting for the festival winning movies.
The Wirksworth 3 Minute Film Festival is the first festival of this sort that I have attended and I have to say thank you to Stuart Wheeldon for inviting me along and for asking Blazing Minds to be a sponsor of the event, it’s been an honour to be part of the Film Festival and to be able to see the films that had been submitted.
Having the 3 Minute Film Festival Awards set in such a lovely location adds to the delight of visiting the event, not only did we get a great collection of films to watch, but had the chance to watch them in wonderful location, the pubs that were screening during Sunday brought on the “arty” feel that the rest of the town is bursting with.
