We hear a lot these days that movies are getting rebooted in Hollywood and the 2003 movie Wrong Turn has been rebooted and relaunched for the 2021 audiences.
A chaotic fight for survival befalls a group of friends on the Appalachian trail in this iconic franchise reboot from the original creator Alan B. McElroy. When a dream trip turns into a nightmare, one group of friends finds themselves at the mercy of an urban legend – The Foundation. As a freak accident drives the group deeper into the mountains, they find themselves succumbing one by one to hunting traps large enough to take out anyone that dares venture off the beaten path.
The group soon realises they are not alone and what happens next escalates into a gruesome game of survival, as those who called the mountain home respond to this outside threat with their own swift and brutal justice. Starring Matthew Modine (Stranger Things) and rising star Emma Dumont (The Gifted). Directed by award-winning director Mike P. Nelson (The Domestics) and written by Alan B. McElroy (Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers). Wrong Turn is produced by Robert Kulzer (Resident Evil: Extinction).

Wrong Turn 2021 The Foundation
This reboot of the 2003 film has changed a few things such as the cannibals have now gone and instead we are introduced to The Foundation, these people have gone through generations since 1849 with an ideal of the perfect America and they all live together in the woods with no technology and living to the rules of the old ways, but they all live in harmony together no matter the colour of each others skin etc.

But when the group that takes the Wrong Turn arrive on their doorstep and cause trouble by being in the wrong place The Foundation take it upon themselves to put the group on trial!
I have to say that it’s been a few years since I’ve seen the original movie and its various spin-offs but one thing I do remember was some of the gory and WTF moments that were quite shocking, Wrong Turn 2021 still has some of those moments. Yes you know what’s coming but its that way that its done that works well, there are plenty of bloody moments that make this a horror movie, but there are also those moments that take it down the thriller route as well.

A nice touch to the storyline is Matthew Modine‘s character, the father of one of the missing friends, goes looking for his daughter and in turn this adds more to the movie which helps to break up it just being the story of being hunted in the woods!
Wrong Turn 2021 certainly works well with its rebooted storyline, it’s not going to give the old grey matter a workout, but it’s certainly a film that has moments that make it worthy of the status of a rebooted film that actually works to keep you entertained for the running time.
There are some nice little twists in there as well which you may see a mile off but hey they add to the storyline.
