You may have seen the posts that we’ve been bringing you about the Ymuno Festival that is taking place this weekend (1 – 4 July), the event in Abergele, North Wales not only has a Welsh lineup but also an international one and it promises something for everyone
The hills of North Wales in Abergele are about to get musical when international act Sorceress hit the main stage of the Ymuno festival this weekend. Sorceress are one of the most widely respected Soul Electronica acts in New Zealand with their distinctive blend of funky drum rhythms and soulful synthesisers. Sorceress will be playing alongside the Sheffield based 9-piece K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade, a heady brew of afrobeat, soul, funk and reggae.
We’ve been informed that there are some amazing live shows in the weekend lineup which will include The Turbans an international musical collective from London, The Renegade Brass Band and Brighton based collective The Impellers. Expect to dance!

Ymuno will also be serving up chilled out, sun-drenched melodies from Manchester based Clare Jordan, Birmingham quintet Boat to Row, Hannah Scott and Jordan Mackampa among others.
The festival is committed to supporting the Welsh music scene and invited bands will be playing alongside talented Welsh musicians including emerging band Yr Adar, ‘pop meets music hall’ Mister Keith, singer/songwriter Abby Butler, bilingual folk artist Sera Owen, high energy dance band Hedge Gods and local DJ’s.
The joining together (Ymuno is Welsh for ‘join together’) of different ideas, sounds and influences can inspire both invited and local musicians, and it is this exciting fusion that helps to create the Ymuno experience.
The lineup of musicians reflects the eclectic nature of the festival’s audience, with one band describing their sound as “a fusion of jazz, ska, polkas, skiffle, waltzes, world rhythms, rock, flamenco, house, bluegrass, drum and bass, punk, hip-hop and funk”. There really is something to suit everyone.

It’s not just about the music, there is are complimentary breakfasts, numerous activities for the young and slightly older adult festival goers and the good times to be had camping in a sunny meadow nestled in the seaside hills of North Wales.
