So it’s that time of year when we take a look at the 5 Movies that we have enjoyed in the year, it’s been tough to pick just five, but these are the ones we enjoyed the most.
2015 brought us some great films and some not so great films, but they have all been enjoyable to watch not only on the big screen but also on the small screen via DVD and Blu-ray.
Now we’re not going to list these films in any particular order, oh no that would be too easy, instead we are just going to bring you the list of 10 movies that we have enjoyed, they may not be the best movies of 2015, but they are ones that we have enjoyed for some reason or another, it could be the soundtrack, the actor or even the genre that we have enjoyed.
5 Movies We Have Enjoyed in 2015
Spectre
James Bond (Daniel Craig) made a return to our screens this year and despite a theme tune that we thought really didn’t suit the tone of the film, overall it was a fun movie.
Not on par with Skyfall which in our point of view was an amazing Bond movie and one which is going to be hard to top, but with the action, locations and some nice touches to the story in Spectre is was still a fun movie to watch, maybe it could have been a little shorter and a better theme tune, but good all the same.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
One of the most anticipated movies that we’d been waiting for was the sequel to Avengers Assemble, with Tony Stark unleashing Ultron on the unsuspecting world, the move certainly didn’t disappoint with its all-out action, eye-popping 3D and touches of comedy thrown in for good measure. Avengers: Age of Ultron certainly had us extremely excited for the upcoming movies in the Marvel Universe.
Mad Max: Fury Road
We had the chance to review Mad Max: Fury Road on Blu-ray™, when it comes to reboots of movies, sometimes it can a bit of a shame that Hollywood ever considered doing a new version, but we were pleasantly surprised with this one, not so much a reboot but of sorts, but with some nice touches in the film, it was more of a continuation of the Mad Max story.
Tom Hardy certainly suited the part of Max and with Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toecutter from the original Mad Max Movie) in the movie as the rather fierce and scary looking Immortan Joe donning a bizarre breathing apparatus and a transparent suit of armour to protect his decaying body.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
It had seemed such a long time since seeing a sneak peek of The Scorch Trials at the end of the first Maze Runner movie and when it came around to the release of the movie, the anticipation was rocketing. But sadly the brilliant CGI, 3D and landscapes in decay didn’t really make the movie amazing.
But we still enjoyed it, it was a fun ride along the way, let’s just hope that part 3, The Death Cure, is a lot better.
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Four years seemed a long time to wait for a sequel to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and there was that underlying worry that Tom Cruise wouldn’t be able to carry off another action-packed Mission Impossible movie, a worry that was short-lived upon the release of the film.
Director Christopher McQuarrie did a brilliant job directing, it’s great to have the serious moments with Hunt and the comedic element with Benji, something that Brad Bird had brought in to the franchise in Ghost Protocol, there were plenty of laughs to break up the action, having the team back together and to tie in to the previous movie with the Syndicate (a regular antagonist in the 1966 TV Series) was brilliant.
Movie, Movies and More Movies
So that’s some of the movies we’ve enjoyed over the last 12 months (in no particular order), it only leaves one movie left that we can’t wait to see and that’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with all the news on that one, we couldn’t mention it, look out for our review later this month.
2016 looks like it’s going to be a good year for movies and we’ll be in the local cinema bringing you our reviews, but not just the cinema reviews, we’ll also bring you more DVD/Blu-ray™ reviews and giveaways as well as reviews of upcoming movies from new directors via some great exclusives.
