The Pompey Wood Film Festival returns for another year! Pompey Wood is here to highlight the work of independent, low and no-budget filmmakers local to Portsmouth as well as promoting those across the world.
This year’s event will be on September 8th at the legendary Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea, Portsmouth. The theme for this year is ‘Genre Reimaginings’. During the event we will have our short-film shortlist and award ceremony, plus an exciting triple bill of genre features; The meta mockumentary “Once And Future Smash”, the cult slasher “End Zone 2”, and the psycho drama “Deadly Display”.

The Once and Future Smash
In 1970, Mikey and William both portrayed football cannibal Smash-Mouth in the influential cult hit, End Zone 2. Now, 50 years later, only one can wear the mask.

End Zone 2
Fifteen years after the events of End Zone, Smash-Mouth is back to finish off the cheerleaders who killed his mother.

Deadly Display
A retelling of Carlo Lizzani’s 1983 Giallo House of the Yellow Carpet. Stripping back the Giallo elements, taking the premise into British Psycho Drama territory creating a roller coaster of mind games and violence.

After a rehearsal with her band, Tess meets Edward and the two find themselves entangled in a deadly game of consequences.
Come indulge in a day full of fantastic indie flicks at the Wedgewood Rooms, plus an opportunity to network with indie filmmakers and film enthusiasts at the edge of wedge.
