Exclusive Interview With Actress Suzanne Fulton About The British Vengence Thriller ‘Derelict’

In a new exclusive interview on Blazing Minds ahead of the film’s Blu-Ray release from 101 Films, I got a chance to ask actress Suzanne Fulton a few questions about his role in the award-winning British vengeance thriller ‘Derelict‘ from Director Jonathan Zaurin.

Derelict QUAD

Q. Following a successful festival run, your film Derelict is now getting a Blu-ray release. Can you tell me a little bit about what we can expect from the film?

A. This film is gritty, tense and exciting. The story is intriguing as is the way it is told. It’s beautifully shot and captivating in its delivery.

Q. You play Abigail in the film. How did you get involved and what attracted you to the character?

A. I loved playing Abigail. I first was contacted regarding the project on Mandy.com. It’s rare to find castings for bass ass females. She’s flawed, broken and brutal. A dream for an actor like me.

Q. What sort of preparation did you do for the role and are there any elements of the character which reflect your own personality?

A. I prepared for the role as I do with any script in looking in the text for all the clues. How is she written? What drives her to do the things she does. I suppose I can connect well with her impulsiveness but her loyalty is her strength and her weakness.

Q. What were some of your favourite moments whilst making the film?

A. So many incredible memories making this film. The people I have met are some of the best people in the world! So creative, fun and brilliant! also teaching Michael (Coombes) to waltz and Ryan (Jordan) with the police tape special effects.

Q. Did you experience any issues whilst making the film?

A. I wouldn’t say issues, challenges yes, for example shooting onscreen intimate scenes was a new challenge for me but handled do brilliantly. Also filming some very bloody scenes when I’m really squeamish!

Q. What do you hope people will take away after watching Derelict?

A. I hope that viewers of Derelict will be engrossed in the story, enjoy the complex characters and most importantly, appreciate the incredible film making that’s gone into this production.

Q. Do you have any other projects which you are currently working on?

A. I’m currently rehearsing for a very different project- a comedy sketch show musical about the biological clock. ‘You Can Have it All Can’t You’ at the Lyceum theatre in Oldham.

Q. If someone is looking to get into acting, what advice would you give them?

A If you’re looking to get into acting. Learn, learn learn. Practice as much as possible, go to classes and create as much as you can. It is the greatest industry, requires a lot of hard work, but it is so worth it!
