Avengers: Age of Ultron has been a highly anticipated movie in my books as part of phase 2 of the Marvel Movies franchise, closely followed by Ant-Man in July this year, Marvel just go from strength to strength, soon we will be moving on to phase 3 with Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, Captain Marvel, Inhumans, Avengers: Infinity War part 2 which takes up to 2019.

But for now let’s get on to Avengers: Age of Ultron, a movie that, in my humble point of view, is going to have you transfixed to the all-out action scenes, amazing 3D, our favourite Avengers and let’s not forget amazing James Spader, who is perfectly cast for the voice of Ultron.

We join the Avengers doing what they do best, grouping together and producing an amazing opening sequence that throws you straight in to the action, you aren’t subtlety taken in to the story of the movie, you are pulled in as part of the Marvel movie and you are made sure this is an action movie and not a walk in the park.

When Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) jumpstarts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron (James Spader), a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.

There have been some changes with the Avengers since their last outing, Banner/The Hulk, now has a way of getting “that guy” to step to one side and change back to Dr Banner with the help of the Black Widow, as she brings him in to calmness in a kind of loving way that only someone who cares can do, but Banner certainly seems to be terrified of returning the feelings to her as he knows that Incredible Hulk is capable of.

Hawkeye is also handy with his bow and we get to learn a little something about him that the Avengers, except for Black Widow, had no idea about, but this part of the story works well to show us a side of the heroes that we haven’t seen before.

As always Thor is now a resident on Earth for the time being, without any claims from Asgard to distract him from his duty as part of the Avengers team and yes folks there is no Loki in this one, but why would you need him in it, a new Thor movie is on the way, that’s the perfect vehicle for his return.

Fighting against the remnants of Hydra is one thing and going up against two new super-enhanced humans don’t help matters as they discover the power that “the twins”, Pietro Maximoff, or Quicksilver, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and his twin sister Wanda Maximoff, or Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. With Quicksilver having super speed and Scarlet Witch with the ability to control the mind of others, Scarlet Witch almost immediately uses her abilities to show a terrifying future to Stark, could he betray and even destroy his fellow Avengers.

Now that the Avengers have the Chitauri Sceptre, Stark begins to experiment and decides to bring the artificial intelligence, Ultron, into action, big mistake!

black widow avengers age of Ultron is superb as the voice of Ultron, with a feeling of friendliness and something else hiding below, just out of sight, his performance did send shivers down my spine, there is a powerful feel not only to each line spoken but also from the CGI of the puppet that now has no strings, “There are no strings on me!”.

Avengers: Age of Ultron, will not disappoint for its all-out action, with massive fight sequences to enthral the action fan, 3D that has a great feel of depth right from the very start and let’s not forget the script. With some great one-liners put in to bring the comedy into a film that would otherwise just be an “action” movie, also check out Thor’s face when Steve Rogers tries to pick up Mjolnir, priceless.
