Blues Harvest is a comic-con and a geeks favourites band, and they have had an amazing journey over the last few years. They have appeared at various comic-con conventions, sci-fi weekenders, intimate venues and large scale events including appearances at Disneyland Paris and Star Wars Celebration Chicago, as well as touring across the UK. This is Blues Harvest first live album and was recorded live in concert at the bands ‘Blues Harvest Holiday Special’, which took place in December 2019 at The Continental in Preston, UK. Blues Harvest provides us on this album with music from and inspired by Star Wars, Marvel, Ghostbusters, Back To The Future and more; with tracks such as “Hooked on a Feeling”, “Footloose”, “Cantina Band”, “The Power of Love” and “Tatooine Sunset”.

When asked to review this album, I was like “Hell Yeah”. I have yet to see these guys live, but after hearing this live album I seriously cannot wait. I have watched their YouTube videos, and heard so many positive comments about these guys, that I couldn’t wait to get stuck into listening to this album. The first track of the album, we are treated to a “Star Wars” instrumental theme track, this has an amazing epic guitar sound to it. “Tatooine Sunset” is an amazing collaboration of the track “Waterloo Sunset”, absolutely amazing. Have to say the track “Chewbacca” is my absolute favourite, and you find yourself having it stuck in your head repeating “Let The Wookie Win”. Going from Stars Wars, they go to other films and tv series.

I got goosebumps from “The Avengers” theme track, absolutely epic. A brilliant rendition of “Doctor Who” theme, that I feel should be used for the tv show theme tune. Blues Harvest version is so so much better, and would definitely work. There are songs that have had their lyrics and title changed from the original, and it really works, and to be honest probably a lot better than the original track. Take for instance, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is a fantastic lyrical genius of a track, done to the tune of “Superstitious” by Stevie Wonder.

There are fantastic guitar riffs throughout the live album, put those together with fabulous lyrics, vocals, bass and drums, and you have a fantastic live album that gets the audience involved. To end the album the guys have an absolute classic track, that is from one of my favourite 80’s films of all time. That track is “The Power of Love”, from the epic film “Back To The Future”. They did not disappoint with their version, which was brilliant. This album is an amazing live album and one that did not disappoint in any way whatsoever.
