Last night was another movie night at the Rhyl Apollo for me and a certain bear (@SlappyBear) so we went to see Aardman studios first full digital 3D movie, Arthur Christmas.
Isn’t It A Little Early For A Christmas Film?
It’s always a good time for a Christmas film, I think we all need a good bit of cheer in our lives and lets face it, it’s not really that far to Christmas now 😉
So having the chance to get in to the Christmas spirit now is a great way to get ready for the festivities ahead.
Arthur Christmas An Ideal Christmas Movie
Anywho on to the film itself. It’s Christmas time and Santa (Jim Broadbent) is delivering presents around the world to all the children with the help of his Elfs and his son Steve (Hugh Laurie), racing around the globe in one night and making all the little children happy.
But after a slight mishap, one little girl doesn’t get her present, so it’s up to Arthur Christmas (James MacAvoy), Grand Santa (Bill Nighy) and a stowaway Elf, Bryony (Ashley Jenson) to save Christmas.
So what ensues is a race against the clock and around the world in an “outdated” sleigh to try to get this last remaining present to Gwen.
A Christmas Comedy
I do have to say that Arthur Christmas is lots of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it along with all the kids that were in the cinema as well, you can tell the kids who’ve never seen 3D before, as their little hands go up in the air trying to touch things 😆
For me the 3D wasn’t overly brilliant, it certainly worked, but it just didn’t seem to be as prominent as it quite possibly could have been, but besides that it’s extremely fun and the characters really do come across with their comical sides.
Grand Santa is one that really stands out in the scenes that he is in with some of the funny things he says, which really had me in fits and giggles.
Overall Thoughts
An ideal family movie, it’s a funny and enjoyable film for kids and adults, so if you want a film to see with the family for Christmas, then this is certainly one to see. 8/10.
