News hits the world as Ben Affleck is named as the actor to wear the cape and cowl as Batman in the 2015 sequel to Man of Steel.
Now I’m not usually one to scream and shout at announcements, but this is one that has had me screaming “WHAT!”.
I am a big fan of Batman and though many have become “The Batman”, Christian Bale was the best one for me, just my point of view, but he seemed to be perfect for the role of the caped crusader.
But then again, with the news of the sequel to Man of Steel hitting the cinemas as early as 2015, the news spread on the idea that it would be a Superman vs Batman movie and then only one graphic novel shot in to my mind, the brilliant “The Dark Knight Returns“.
In a post-apocalyptic world The Batman has retired and hung up the cape and cowl, he comes back in what can only be described as one serious ass-kicking section of the book, where he takes on the Man of Steel himself.
Now the script for Man of Steel 2, hasn’t been finalised yet, but it has been mentioned that Ben Affleck’s Batman will go up against Superman.
It’s all going to be a little strange though as Ben Affleck has already appeared as Superman, sort of, he played George Reeves in Hollywoodland, so now he’s going to be Superman as DareDevil as The Dark Knight taking on Superman!

The announcement was made Thursday that he would take over the role from Christian Bale, Affleck is now the 8th actor to play Batman.
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some,” WB president Greg Silverman said in a statement.
Directed by “Man of Steel” filmmaker Zack Snyder, the Superman-Batman feature will open worldwide on July 17, 2015, with Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane reprising their roles.
Is Ben Affleck as Batman the right decision?
I’m leaving this one to you guys, do you think that he is right for the role, remember this will be an older, more battle-scarred Batman than before.
