If like me you are a massive geek when it comes to the Star Wars franchise, celebrate every year with a marathon of the nine movies in the Skywalker Saga and have often wondered which is the best planet in the Star Wars universe to live on then this post will certainly grab your attention.
We were first introduced to the galaxy far, far, away back in the 70s and I remember as a child queuing up for 5 hours to see this film that everyone had been raving about, I never thought that it would have such an effect on me for my love of movies and Sci-Fi, but that first credit roll (without the mention of A New Hope back then) had me glued, the space battle, Vader and of course the first look at Tatooine and it two suns.
The many worlds of Star Wars range from the arid sands of Tatooine to the stormy seas of Kamino, now according to some intergalactic research carried out by Betway casino we can look deeper into these far off worlds to find out which would be the best ones to live on.
BESPIN
Some of you may not recognise the name but you will know the location from its amazing “Cloud City”, this is the place that Han Solo meets his fate for the next chapter in the original Star Wars Trilogy before heading to be a decorative wall hanging at Jabba’s palace.
With its amazing views above the clouds from the large windows and its bright white décor, this is a place that you could go to just to relax and hideaway for a while, just make sure the empire don’t find out you are hiding there!
CORUSCANT
A planet that can only be described as a bustling metropolis, Coruscant is not only has a vibrant economy it has a class system that can not be matched with over 1,000 with the wealthy at the top of the buildings and the lower you go you see the lower classes to the point of a living hell right at the bottom!
Coruscant is also the home for the Jedi Council and this is where a young Anakin Skywalker is taken by Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan to be introduced to the council for the first time, but master Yoda wasn’t too sure about him.
ENDOR
Ah, Endor, the forest moon. This is the home of the Ewoks, the planet boasts wonderful forests and very huge trees which makes it the perfect place for your camping trips, but be on your guard as the Ewoks aren’t as cute as they look and will murder you without a second thought.
Endor was the scene of the final battle in Return of the Jedi and who can forget the amazing speeder bike chase through the forest, a scene that sounds amazing played loud on a 5.1 surround system, but that’s another story.
HOTH
Grab something warm and that hoth-water bottle (sorry couldn’t resist), this is a planet that you will love if you love those adventures sports such as snowboarding or skiing, if you have an inquisitive mind of a scientist it’s the perfect place to discover the hidden wonders of the caves of microbes and bacteria, but be cautious the caves are also the home of the Wompa and they don’t mind what they eat!
Be warned, the nigh time goes well below freezing point and if you don’t get to the safety of camp you may have to spend the night inside a Tonton and you don’t want to do that, as Han Solo discovered they smell worse on inside as they do on the outside!
NABOO
If you are looking for something that is packed with culture then Naboo is the place for you, it has amazing architecture inside and out of its buildings and also have amazing rolling landscapes for those long hikes out to hidden lakes, waterfalls and Shaaks but don’t be tempted to ride one or you could end up being thrown off much as Anakin did.
Not only do you have the surface to enjoy you could, if the Gungans didn’t mind, visit Otoh Gunga (the Gungan City). It’s a wonderful looking city that will delight anyone that visits. On a darker note, Naboo is also the birthplace of Emperor Palpatine but we won’t hold that against them.
TATOOINE
The planet it all started on for many of us back in 1977, Tatooine can be very harsh with its dry landscape and home to the sand people that you really have to watch out for and let’s not forget the Jawa’s that will take anything that isn’t bolted down!
Not a place to visit for the faint of heart, the birthplace of Anakin Skywalker and our introduction to the saga with Luke Skywalker, the desert land can only be overshadowed by a place where you’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Mos Eisley spaceport.
ALDERAAN
A planet of beauty and the home for Princess Leia and her family, this wonderful looking planet was snuffed out by the imperial weapon that created fear in the resistance, the Death Star!
Much like Naboo, Alderaan was known for the landscapes, meadows, wonderful mountains. It would have been the perfect place to stay although the empire did blow it up after they wanted to test out the fully operational battle station!
MUSTAFAR
If you like it hot, smelling of sulphur and the chance to be burnt to a crisp, maybe this is the place for you. Not only is this a rather terrible place to visit, let’s not forget this is where Obi-Wan and Anakin have their final moment as they battle each other on the slopes of the lava flows and floating lava collectors.
I suppose you could say that this is the birthplace of Darth Vader as Obi-Wan left Anakin to die in pain from the lava. Not a place I would like to live in, to be honest.
DEGOBAH
“That’s right R2, we’re going to the Degobah system“, those famous words spoken by Luke as he pilots his X-Wing to Dagobah to find an elusive Jedi Master known as Yoda. This is a planet that would probably suit Shrek, it’s all swap, but it didn’t Yoda from making it his home and his hut.
A few warnings to say about Yoda’s home is that it is strong with the Dark Side of the Force and Luke discovers this for himself when Yoda tries to teach him the ways of the Force. Then there are the waster dragons, snakes and many flying creatures that could all be a potential hazard, but it’s worth a visit.
KASHYYYK
The home of the one and only walking carpet, yes folks Kashyyk is the homeworld of Han’s long time friend and co-pilot Chewbacca. Not only do you have the wonderful beaches by the sea to spend your days at, but you can also learn from the culture of the Wookies as they are well-known for being string craftsmen and carpenters so if you want that lovely beach hut they are the ones to sort you out with one.
But do watch out for those giant spiders and slugs, better make sure that Chewy and his friends have given you some good defences in your new beach hut!
