After reviewing the film “Vinyl” the other week, I started thinking about the Bistro in Rhyl where some of the films were filmed. A popular place in my teenage years and one which is now no longer a place for people to meet up and listen to live bands.
So then I popped to the arcade which is now underneath the Bistro and asked for permission to go upstairs to a place that I last stepped into many years ago and one which has so many amazing memories of some of the bands that played there and the friends that have long since moved on.
Bistro In Rhyl: Memories of Live Music, Fun and Hooch!
After walking up the staircase in darkness, which many of us have stumbled down in the past after a little too much to drink, I entered into the area of the Bistro that leads to the front bar. Memories started flooding back of the nights spent and the fun had.
The Bistro hasn’t really changed that much, except that it’s now like a deserted dropping ground as there are so many things that have been dumped and just left to collect dust, furniture is stacked and even the kitchen has seen better days.
So as I took photos with a slightly reminiscent watery eye, I thought about asking those that used to visit the Bistro and some of the fondest memories of the club throughout the years that it was running.
Bistro In Rhyl: A Call To Fans
So I’m now planning a big article on the Bistro in Rhyl and I’m looking for people who would like to get involved in the article, what I’m looking for is people who used to visit the Bistro in its glory days and if anyone has any great stories/memories and some photos then please let me know.
I’ve had a great response through Facebook and Twitter with some people giving me links to their photographs for the upcoming article, thanks for these.
