Here at Blazing Minds we now official hate 2016, so many have been lost this year and the news is just in that Carrie Fisher has also now passed away at the young age of 60.
Carrie Fisher is best known to many Star Wars fans as Princess Leia Organa and was most recently seen in The Force Awakens the 7th movie in the Star Wars franchise and it had been mentioned that she will also be in Episode 8 as a key part in the movie.
Shortly after news of Fisher’s passing broke, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm confirmed to TMZ on Tuesday (December 27) that Fisher had “absolutely wrapped” filming on Episode VIII“.
The actress and writer suffered a massive heart attack while on a flight from London to LAX, and went to cardiac arrest.
Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
The daughter of showbiz veteran Debbie Reynolds and entertainer Eddie Fisher, Fisher was brought up in the sometimes tumultuous world of film, theatre and television.
Her now-final film Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released on December 15, 2017.
Our thoughts go out to Fisher’s family and friends during this very emotional and sad time
