If you had told me at the start of 2016 how many great films I would see, I might have laughed. I mean sure there was Civil War, a new Coen Brothers film and Rogue One, but the amount of films that weren’t even on my radar that I have love for from this year is immense.

I’ve had some amazing discussions with people and the variety of quality from blockbusters to indie darlings has been so ranged there really is something amazing for everyone to watch this year.

That being said, there were some clear winners this year, and below is a quick video breakdown of my Top 5 films of the year. As a side note, I use the dates films had a Wide release in the UK this year, so things that come out abroad or in festivals in previous years might be on this list, but I saw them this year.

And that’s it! I’d like to give special mentions to Star Trek Beyond, Civil War, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Rogue One and Deadpool which round out my top 10.

This year has been pretty special the not just the amount of great films but also the variety in them. It’s setting a very high bar going into 2017, and there still a bunch of films like Green Room, The Neon Demon, Moana, Love & Friendship, Don’t Breathe and more that I haven’t had a chance to get to yet.

What do you think of this year? Was Suicide Squad as bad for you as it was for me? What’s your Top 5? Looking forward to 2017 as much as I am? Hit me up on Twitter and let me know what you think! Think Arrival will clean up at the Oscars or will La La Land take the cake? Would you like to see more like this from us in the future? Let me know!

Thanks for watching.
