It’s been a tough time for many of us that love film and for those of us that work in the industry, but now with Wales moving to Level 2 from the 17th May and Cineworld reopens in Wales along with England on the 19th May.
We announced on our Social Media the other the fantastic news that Scala Cinema in Prestatyn which is owned by Merlin Cinemas and is our local is reopening on the 17th and it certainly has a great list of movies for us to go and see, check them out on the Scala Cinema Listings here on Blazing Minds.
But here in Wales, there was no news at the time Cineworld Cinemas reopening and being a fan of ReadlD 3D, IMAX and 4DX we were waiting in anticipation of the announcement that the cinema chain would be opening up.
Just after 4pm today, Cineworld posted out on their Twitter account the news that we had been waiting for:
Cineworld Covid-19 Safety Measures
You can imagine the excitement that the news has caused, we now have a date for Cineworld reopening in Wales, of course, there are strict Covid-19 guidelines to adhere to during visits to the cinemas, such as wearing face-covering and keeping that 2m distance from other cinema goers, all of which must be followed.
We must all follow the precautions when visiting the cinema and Cineworld have listed the guidelines on their website for their cinemas which include:
FACE COVERINGS
In line with new government guidelines, face coverings must be worn in the cinema but can be removed when eating and drinking.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Social distancing measures have been implemented across all areas within the cinema in line with local government guidelines as required.
HAND WASHING
All employee and customer toilets will be stocked with anti-bacterial hand soap, and stringent handwashing guidelines will be in place for all employees to supplement our current personal hygiene policy.
HAND SANITISERS
Hand sanitizer stations are provided in all cinemas for customers and employees.
What can we see when Cineworld reopens?
So now it’s now almost time to dust off the Unlimited Card and get ready to book some screenings. But what will we get to see? Now that’s the million-dollar question, so many of the Cineworld screens in England have already seen people booking tickets for some of the great releases that we thought we might have missed including Godzilla Vs Kong in IMAX.
Cineworld Cinemas have said that the tickets for cinemas in Wales should be available in the next 24 hours, so keep an eye on your Cineworld App or the website for the tickets to go live.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic many of the upcoming movies have had their release dates changed, so by the time many of them are released we should, hopefully, be safer from the virus.

With great films ahead, including Peter Rabbit 2, Those Who Wish Me Dead, The Unholy, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, A Quiet Place: Part II and many more, they have said that they can’t wait to be back and serve the public as the best place to watch a movie.Â
