Dame Judi Dench Has Unlimited Bond Appeal

British actress tops poll to decide the nation’s favourite Bond Girl

It’s not hard to believe that SPECTRE has been named the most anticipated film of 2015.

With SPECTRE hitting cinemas across the UK on the 26th October, it’s been unveiled by Cineworld, the UK’s leading cinema chain by admissions, that former “M”, Dame Judi Dench, aged 80, who played the role for 17 years, is Britain’s ultimate Bond girl. Over a quarter of Brits selected her as the actress they would most like to see back on the big screen for an unlimited amount of time (26%), fending off the likes of sizzling starlet Eva Green who starred in Casino Royale (14%) and Academy Award winner Halle Berry who starred in Die Another Day (10%).

The current 007, Daniel Craig, was voted the most popular Bond ever with half of the nation selecting him as the Bond actor they’d like to see unlimited films from. In second place came Scottish legend Sean Connery (23%) and Daniel Craig’s predecessor, Pierce Brosnan (18%) third. Not surprising, George Lazenby, the only ‘one-hit’ wonder Bond, came last with just 1% of the vote.

The research also asked the Unlimited members to select their favourite Bond villain, with the classic silent henchman Jaws (played by Richard Kiel) (16%), narrowly beating Bond’s Skyfall nemesis Raoul Silva (played by Javier Bardem) (15%) as the villain we’d most like to return for unlimited Bond films.

We’ve been told by Cineworld, who polled 3,000 of their Unlimited Card members, who from just £16.90 a month get to watch as many films as they can handle, that SPECTRE is the film movie fans are most looking forward to over the next few months (77%), beating the much-hyped Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens (66%), out in December 2015.

Bond is one of the top three film franchises Brits want to become unlimited with it having (13%), Star Wars (19%) and The Avengers (19%) grabbing the top two places.

“As a film critic and cinema lover, it’s always fun to speculate on who in the history of Bond has been the best Bond girl or leading man. It’s quite a surprise to see Dame Judi Dench come out top ahead of the younger, more stereotypical Bond girls – but it just goes to show what a national treasure she is. There’s no better way than to watch a Bond film on the big screen and Cineworld’s Unlimited Card is perfect for any film fan. Plus it’s great value for money, with not only SPECTRE, but other huge films like The Hunger Games and Star Wars still to come this year and of course, a fantastic line up of films already in place for 2016.” – British Film Critic, James King, Cineworld’s Unlimited Card ambassador.

And it doesn’t seem to be just Bond that Cineworld Unlimited Card customers have been voting on, they also asked them to pick the actress and actor they most want to see unlimited films from.

With Avengers’ Black Window, Scarlett Johansson, receiving 15% of the vote, narrowly beating Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence (12%) and Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road, Legend) been selected as the actor people want to see unlimited times in the cinema (16%), ahead of usual fan-favourite Leonardo DiCaprio (9%).

“Our Unlimited Card customers are some of the biggest film fans in the country – they keep up with all of the latest blockbusters and often watch multiple films in a trip! It’s always great to get their opinions and we know how excited they and all of our customers are to see SPECTRE next week.
