Since its inception in 2010, the ground-breaking Forget-me-not Chorus has connected people using music and song to overcome the isolation and loneliness felt by those affected by dementia in South Wales.
In the last 9 years, the choir has brought demonstrable joy and a sense of wellbeing to over 500 people and has an exciting vision for its work in Llandudno in partnership with Venue Cymru.
Forget-me-not Chorus is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of the Llandudno community living with, and alongside, dementia. Starting from Thursday, 10th October, a community choir will be held at Venue Cymru each Thursday from 6.30-8.30pm. The choir sessions will be led by music leader Manon Llwyd, supported by pianist, Annette Bryn Parri.
Speaking about her new role as choir leader, Manon Llwyd said ‘I’m so pleased to be involved with starting a Forget-me-not Chorus in Llandudno. We will offer warm and friendly sessions specially designed for people living with and alongside dementia – it’s very much about active participation and bringing smiles and moments of joy for everyone involved. Come and give us a try!’
A spokesperson for Venue Cymru said: “We are thrilled to be able to work in partnership with Forget-me-not Chorus to launch a community choir here in Llandudno. We attended a rehearsal of one of their South Wales choirs and saw first-hand the joy that communal singing can give to people living with dementia as well as to their friends, family and carers. We can’t wait to see our very own Llandudno choir form and thrive in the same way, bringing a little music magic into the lives of the choristers.”
The Forget-me-not Chorus Llandudno extends a warm invitation to anyone living with dementia to experience the joy of a Forget-me-not rehearsal at first hand by attending a session. All participants living with dementia should be accompanied by their spouse/ son/ daughter/friend/ relative/carer, as respite care is not provided.

I cannot stress how much the Forget-me-not Chorus has changed both mine and my mother’s lives. Our rehearsal space is a chance for us all to be ourselves, have fun and enjoy the world of music and song without any mention of hospitals, doctors or dementia. Forget-me-not Chorus is part of my life now… always an absolute pleasure.
