Screams By The Sea International Horror Film Festival is returning to Bournemouth for its third annual instalment on MARCH 13th & 14th, and this year it’s bigger than ever. The festival will welcome films from ten different countries and will entertain cinema lovers with two days of events and activities.
The annual film festival returns to Pavilion Dance, Bournemouth, and this year organizers are planning not one but two days of events, screenings, and celebrations of alternative culture.
The film festival will open with the south-west premiere of the j-horror film “MAG MAG” (dir.Yuriyan Retriever) on Friday, March 13th. This wild ghost story about love, revenge and victims will have its south-west premiere at the festival.
Film festival continues with screenings on Saturday, March 14, starting with Matt Stuertz’s darkly comedic bloodbath “HUMAN”, followed by heart-warming Dorset documentary “ALIEN ON STAGE” (Director Danielle Kummer and Lucy Harvey).
In the afternoon, audience members will see a mesmerising slasher from Poland – “DEAD BY DAWN” (dir. Dawid Torrone). Closing the festival is another south-western premiere – “THE OTHER PEOPLE” (dir. Chad McClarnon), a thriller that will leave viewers paranoid about every tiny shadow in their homes.
The festival champions a selection of short films that will get audiences gasping, laughing, and wanting more from the amazing filmmakers on show. Shorts include: “THE TENANT” (dir. Ollie Hilton), “SNACKTIME” (dir. Alphonse Ferrari), “THE COMPLETE PACKAGE” (dir. Wyn Wallace), “THE BAIT” (dir. Sabrina Rivetti), “SURPRISE!” (dir. Dave Gardner), “THE WHISPERER” (dir. Pepo González, Juan Carlos Saloz), “THE BENEATH” (dir.. Lisette Vlassak), “COSMIC CRASH” (dir. James Smith), “STALKER” (dir. David Cholewa), “THE SYNTHETIC AGE” (dir. Dimitris Armenakis).
Festival director Radi Nikolov says: “Our community asked for more and we listened. This year we have: more events, more shorts, and more genre celebrations. As an international film festival, we are so proud to have a more diverse representation of stories from even more countries. Indie cinema is alive and well here in Dorset!”
From chilling feature films to free live events, this year’s festival promises to make a major impact on Dorset’s cultural scene. The festival will also feature an exciting script pitch competition, alongside a brand new Industry Hub located at PATCH, Bournemouth, making it a must-attend event for filmmakers and aspiring creatives.
