From Liam Regan, director of MY BLOODY BANJO, comes a dark-satirical-horror-comedy take on the teen-high school genre. Vegan-goth student Beth Conner, falls into a relationship with her new English teacher, Miss Campbell, and soon develops a problematic taste for human flesh. Unable to commit suicide without the help of a loaded handgun, Beth finds herself destined to live inside a 90s cliché-laden horror film. When a patriarchal school board auctions the rights to live stream the inaugural “All You Can Eat Massacre” contest (the prize a loaded handgun!) Beth finally finds a way to escape horror movies for good.
In a new exclusive interview on Blazing Minds, I got a chance to ask Writer-director Liam Regan a few questions about Eating Miss Campbell which will make its World Premier at Arrow FrightFest on Friday August 26th at 21:00
Q. Your film Eating Miss Campbell has been selected to play at the Arrow FrightFest Film Festival. Can you tell us what we can expect from the film?
A. The most inoffensive movie ever to screen at Arrow FrightFest.
Q. What were some of your influences when writing the script for Eating Miss Campbell?
A. All my friends were turning vegan, and I thought it would be funny to write a movie about a vegan high school girl, who develops a problematic taste for human flesh.
Q. What were some of your influences for the look and style of the film?
A. Mostly high school teen movies, Idle Hands, Heathers, Jawbreaker, Mean Girls.
Q. Did you make any changes from the original script during filming?
A. Yeah, we had a scene where the characters wore face paint for the All You Can Eat Massacre event, and they would all be donning the face paint for the rest of the movie, but unfortunately events came about that forced me to rewrite the scene as a dream sequence, and ultimately write off the face paint visual.
Q. What were some of your favourite moments during filming?
A. Whenever Blade Braxton or The Midnight Rose was on set.
Q. Did you experience any issues during filming?
A. I had so many meltdowns, this is probably a question for my executive producer Danny Naylor. Filming is like going to war, you have to prepare yourself. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, so always have a plan.
Q. What makes Eating Miss Campbell stand out as something different in the horror genre?
A. We have an Alec Baldwin joke.
Q. What do you hope people take away after watching the film?
A. A desire to eat human flesh.

A. Yeah. I’m currently working on My Bloody Banjo 3: Trouble in Jamaica
Q. If someone was looking to write and direct their own film what advice would you give them?
A. Make it happen, by any means necessary, be inventive and take no prisoners.
