Video Shop Tales of Terror is a new horror anthology that brings together some of the UK’s best indie horror filmmakers. An idea that was originally conceived by Singh Lall, the Curator of the Horror on Sea Video Club.
With the Indiegogo now coming to an end on 1st December, Blazing Minds have been talking with the directors of each segment and are giving you a sneak peek as to what you can expect.
In the third breakdown of the series director Andrew Elias talks about his horror segment Fleurs du Mal, and we also get the first look at the new poster for the segment which has been created by Neil Fraser.
About the director Andrew Elias
I’ve been involved in making short films under various guises for the past 30 years or so, using different recording formats and devices. This culminated in 2018 with the release of Numbers, a barely feature-length film that was screened at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival in January 2020. The screening at Horror-on-Sea introduced me to Lall and all the other filmmakers involved in Video Shop Tales of Terror, so I‘m very excited to be involved in this. I’m also currently producing a collection of three interconnected short stories of weirdness set during World War One, called Tales of The Great War.
Horror Segment: Fleurs du Mal
Lall originally touted the idea of an anthology film set around a video rental store to me during one of the lockdowns. Lall and I both anthologies and VHS, so I was eager to be involved, but was tied up with Tales of the Great War (in which Lall makes an appearance as ‘The Curator’), so I put my ideas on the back burner until I got the call to action this October. Fleurs du Mal is a 1970’s style Victorian Gothic piece, which I think will fit very nicely into the whole vibe of the Video Dungeon rental store.
The Cast
I’m very fortunate to have two fantastic, prolific British Horror actors attached to Fleurs du Mal, Dani Thompson and Eve Kathryn Oliver. I’ve admired their work for some time, so it’s brilliant to have the opportunity to work with them.
