Gremlins returned to the big screen in 4DX for the 35th Anniversary – Review

Ah the 80s, the decade of some seriously fun movies and last night one of my favourites, Gremlins, came back to the big screen at Cineworld in 4DX to bring back old memories for some and make some new ones for those that had never experienced the film in the cinema.

I was a young teenager when Gremlins first came to the big screen in around 1984 and it was a movie that I’ve been a big fan of ever since, a film that can easily be described as a Christmas Comedy Horror that puts some of the modern movies to shame even now, it has everything you could want from a “Christmas Movie”, for starters it’s set at Christmas, it has the slight love interest and of course it has the moment of discovery.

On his travels, failed inventor Randall Peltzer (Hoyt Axton), discover a small backstreet shop in Chinatown while trying to sell one of his latest inventions, in the shop he hears a strange sound, in the back, he discover the Mogwai and tries to buy it from the shopkeeper, he fails but the shopkeeper’s grandson sells the Mogwai to him.

Gremlins in 4DX - Review on Blazing Minds

Randall takes the creature home as a Christmas present for his son (Zach Galligan), who absolutely loves him and we are introduced to Gizmo, the cute creature that melts your heart during his screentime.

What ensues is a film of fun, laughter and in 4DX one heck of a crazy ride from a movie that is now shockingly 35 years old! Gremlins is a movie that is loved by many people, it was a film that had audience laughing out loud during the antics of those pesky creatures and t still does today, as I heard at the screening I attended.

I’m hoping now that we get the 35th-anniversary release of Gremlins 2 next and of course, let’s hope that Gremlins 3 finally makes an appearance at some point.

Gremlins Rocks in 4DX

The film still stands the test of time and during the 4DX screening, it had those extra elements that made Gremlins even more fun than usual with the addition of the moving seats, smoke, lightning and even snow, yes snow!

Although there are those moments when the darker scenes do look a little grainy and some out of focus on the big screen, Gremlins is still a blast from the past and just as fun as it was back in 1984.

I have to say that it’s brilliant that Cineworld in Broughton now has 4DX and to have the chance to see such a classic movie from my childhood back on the big screen has been an amazing experience, my recommendation would be to see Gremlins back on the big screen, I know there are still a few cinemas showing it in 4DX, Broughton is showing it on the 9th and 10th December, so you better be quick to see a movie that you can also become part of.

They're BACK!!
