We interview Sean Evans from Back to the Movies

I must say a big, big thank you to Sean Evans from Back to the Movies for doing this online interview, it’s great to bring you all an interview with someone who has really made a name for themselves in the industry.

I’ve followed Sean’s website, Twitter etc for some time now and I was really honoured when he agreed to do this interview for the readers of Blazing Minds.

Sean Evans Back to the Movies

So without further ado, let’s get on with it.

Karen: What gave you the idea of starting “Back to the Movies”?

Sean: I’ve been a movie lover all my life and I have grown up with film along the way. I was always passionate about promotion and marketing and the thought of working with celebrity’s enticed me to set up Back to the Movies. I never thought it could be so easy to speak to celebs both independent and Hollywood, but as my work started to take off it soon became clear that it was very easy indeed to speak to them for interviews and then to helping them with their projects.

Karen:  Since starting what has been your hardest challenge?

Sean: My hardest challenge was and still is a movie called Fear Clinic, I was working on my own to raise money for the films production budget, it was difficult, I had mild support but building a fanbase, interacting with fans and THEN raising the money needed for production was a tough job and its still going on even now ! I love it thou, I love talking to the fans and I love being part of a film that hasn’t even been released yet !

K: What’s been your easiest challenge?

S: None of them are easy, every challenge has its ups and downs but you just knuckle down and put your heart and soul into them, if your passionate about something then you try your hardest to do it good and to do it right !

K: I’ve seen great names and faces popping up on your latest YouTube video, how much did you enjoy your recent trip over the pond to visit them?

S: It was a great experience, Los Angeles is a beautiful city, everyone was so nice and friendly and it really made me feel at home. I got to work on pre production for a film, meet some celebrity friends and even have leisure time to go and check out the amazing film studios around California. It’s a trip that I will never forget.

K: With movies coming out quicker and quicker these days, do you think that independent movies will stand the test of time more than the big blockbusters?

S: It all depends, I am finding that Independent films are coming up with more unique concepts in terms of storylines and the boundaries the film can take. Hollywood is a forever working machine that churns out the most profitable idea, it just so happens that profitable ideas in our modern age always seem to be remakes or ideas that have been tried and tested before. I think with the advancements of indy film, it will never match the kind of budgets as Hollywood films but they may be able to give some Hollywood films a run for their money.

K: Talking about independent films, tell us a little more about your current projects.

S: At the moment as I mentioned before I’m working on Fear Clinic the Movie starring Robert Englund, Fiona Dourif, Thomas Dekker and Corey Taylor, Aside from that I’m working with Tyler Mane who played Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween as he is currently working on a new horror flick called Penance Lane. Its strange, horror people make these gory films yet they are the nicest people I’ve EVER worked with, its like working with family.

K: Who has been the hardest to get hold of for one of your interviews?

S: Everyone always says to me James Franco must have been the most difficult, but James was actually one of the easiest I had his publicists number and email and within 24 hours we were set up and ready to go. The hardest to organise was Marlon Wayans, he had such a crazy schedule and it was so difficult organising the interview but we got there in the end!

K: With the modern-day use of the likes of Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites, do you find these more time-consuming than a conventional website?

S: If you want a film promoting then you have to do it right and with websites like Twitter and Facebook they are perfect for advertising and promoting your movie to a worldwide audience, if you haven’t got the time to run them, you’re in the wrong business!

K: What advice would you give to anyone wanting to get into the entertainment side of the business?

S: Work hard and never give up, layout a plan of action of what you hope to achieve and steps you are going to take to get there, never get disheartened if you are turned down or are put down, it’s just how the cookie crumbles. Keep at it, put your heart into it and things will work out. You have to be relentless!

K: Ok, now for you to go nuts, let us now some links, video etc that you want to tell everyone about to see yourself to the world even more.
