James Wan’s Conjuring Universe is packed with a plentiful, talented cast and even some familiar faces! Ahead of the release of The Curse of La Llorona arriving in cinemas this Friday, we’ve curated a list including some of the cast members that may ring a bell…
Linda Cardellini

From the Avengers to Scooby-Doo: The Movie, we’re sure Linda Cardellini will have made an appearance in at least one of your favourite TV shows or films. Cardellini has built up an impressive array of appearances in the likes of “New Girl,” Netflix’s family drama “Bloodline” and even received an Emmy award for her role in “Mad Men”, but her most significant role was in was playing Lindsey Weir, the smart nerd in the TV show “Freaks and Geeks,”. Linda Cardellini has also had her fair share of voice acting for children’s TV shows such as “Gravity Falls,” and “Sanjay and Craig.” In her latest role, she stars as mother Anna Garcia, protecting her children from the relentless evil demon that is “La Llorona.”
Raymond Cruz

Raymond Cruz is best known for his starring role as Detective Julio Sanchez in series “The Closer” as well as his recurring role as the drug lord Tuco Salamanca in the popular crime drama “Breaking Bad” and its spin-off “Better Call Saul”. Cruz has previously claimed that his roles are made easier by relatability, in an interview with The Daily Beast, Cruz revealed that his role in the Breaking Bad series wasn’t too far from home as he was also confronted with the terrifying effects of PCP as a child, serving as a base for the experiences of his meth-dealing character in Breaking Bad. Cruz’s Latin heritage also meant he was familiar with the La Llorona folklore before starring as a Shaman in The Curse of La Llorona, claiming “Because I grew up with this legend, it made it very easy because it is very real to me”.
Sean Patrick Thomas

Sean Patrick Thomas received his first leading role in the teen romance “Save the Last Dance” (2001), in which he starred opposite Julia Stiles. Since then Thomas had supporting roles in the films “Barbershop” and “Halloween: Resurrection” and also featured on “The District”, a television crime drama that aired on CBS (from 2000–04). Thomas stars as Detective Cooper, the close family friend to Linda Cardellini’s character in The Curse of La Llorona. In an interview with Black Girl Nerds, he claims he had never heard of the folklore before starring in the film, however recalls a spooky moment on set, claiming when filming one of the scenes at the aftermath of La Llorona “there was a really, really powerful stench in the air”… Creepy!
Patricia Velásquez
Patricia Velasquez is best known for her role as Ank Su Namun in “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns.” She also has an extensive modelling career and has appeared on many popular television shows including “American Family,” “CSI: Miami,” and “Arrested Development.” In The Curse of La Llorona, Velásquez stars as a mother who has lost her children to the evil that is La Llorona. Patricia has been very vocal about her beliefs in the folklore, claiming she feels as though she was “chosen” to partake in the film.
Tony Amendola

Tony Amendola stars as Father Perez in The Curse of La Llorona, which may be a recognisable name if you’re a big horror fan… If that doesn’t ring a bell, you’ll definitely remember him from his appearances in TV shows such as the Jaffa master Bra’tac “Stargate SG-1”, revolutionary leader Edouard Kagame of Liber8 in the television show “Continuum” and on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” as Geppetto.
