Martin Ramsdin sits down to discuss his latest season of the critically acclaimed Bunny Galore’s Movie Nightmares – the show’s move from SKY to Miami Fox Streaming, the show’s origins, his love for The Munsters, specifically Marilyn, and much, much more.
Bunny Galore is BACK for Season 9 of the critically acclaimed Movie Nightmares, and not only does she bring along a few old friends, but she’s joined by Aidan the skeleton, shipped directly from the bone brokers.
Movie Nightmares, Season 9 has also found a new home on Miami Fox Streaming and has been given a lick of paint, taking place in Bunny’s freshly-renovated mortuary house. Each of the seven episodes, which feature more cult B-Movies, takes place in one of her unique purpose-built rooms as she occasionally interrupts the films with comments and jokes – yes, the queen of the cult movies delivers more bang for your buck than Barbie ever could…

Q1. Bunny Galore’s Movie Nightmares has been running for 9 seasons now, the 9th being part of Miami Fox Streaming’s new original content. What has changed since Season 1?
A lot has changed over the years! Movie Nightmare started on YouTube in 2011 as a fun, new project. But when I moved to Sky TV in 2012, it was a lot simpler to start with. I was just introducing the movies. But then in 2015 I pitched the idea of calling it Bunny Galore’s Movie Nightmares and it being a full 2-hour show. Season One was shot in the London dungeon and it even had a section on torture implements in every episode.
Q2. Season 9 has a more dark synthetic, with an American edge. Was it a conscious decision, or was it more of an organic transition?
Season 9 feels a lot edgier and thrilling and I think that’s been led by the type of movies we’ve got this season, which are a great crop of films. I LOVE 80s Horror!
Q3. One of the most intriguing aspects of Bunny Galore’s Movie Nightmares is that you balance comedy and horror. How did you come up with the concept?
Well, I think all good Horror is balanced by a comedy element. Like after a great Jumpscare, an audience laughs at the fact they’ve just jumped, and it’s an cathartic release. A horror host, traditionally, was there to take the edge off a really scary movie. Plus, I bring an extra element of kitschiness, I always think of myself like Marilyn in The Munsters, if The Munsters were more like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Q4. Ryan James Whitwell was in the director’s chair. What was it like working with Ryan? Was it a collaborative effort?
Ryan was such a dream to work with. We literally had never met before and he totally got it from the word go! I’m normally very, very particular because I like a very tall cameraman, so the angles are always from up high and I look skinnier. Hehe!
Q5. If you had to explain Bunny Galore’s Movie Nightmares to someone unfamiliar with the show, how best would you summarise it?
To Americans, they would probably understand, as the tradition of the horror movie host has been there on TV since the 1950s, from Vampira to Svengoolie, Mr Lobo, Zacherlie and, of course, the most iconic one – Elvira, Mistress of the Dark! To a UK audience, a bit unfamiliar with it, I’d say I’m like the crypt keeper in Tales From The Crypt! The host that introduces the stories with a sassy, funny style, except perhaps I have a better figure than the crypt keeper!
Q6. Your mansion seems to have been remodelled and you have taken decorative tips from Angela Franklin (Night of the Demons). Is there anywhere in your humble abode that cameras were not allowed?
I’m so excited for you all to see every corner of my remodelled house …. However, I’ve had to keep prying eyes away from looking under the patio …… where I keep all the ex-boyfriends!
Q8. What can fans of cult movies expect from Season 9 of Bunny Galore’s Movie Nightmares? And will the Rev. Holloway be making an appearance?
Season Nine is going to be a lot of fun. The 1980s are an incredible time for horror movies and we have some absolute iconic films for you. And more importantly, the Rev. Holloway may be coming for a sleepover and be returning full-blooded at Halloween!
Q9. I have heard talk of a Christmas Special in the works. What can we expect from the Special, and will Aidan the skeleton be making an appearance?
My favourite time of year, apart from Halloween, is of course Christmas. I’m so excited to find the right delicious slice of terror for that season. Aidan the Skeleton seems to be extremely popular already! After all, he is the perfect male companion! His bones are magnificent!
Q10. Last, but finally not least, will you be coming to any film conventions later in the year?
I do love a convention, and the next one I’m doing is one of my favourites – it’s Popcorn in Sheffield in
September!
