What better way to celebrate George A Romero’s birthday than to announce the news that the classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD will be shuffling to London’s West End in late 2019 in a LIVE stage production!
Night of the Living Dead – is coming to the West End as a BRAND NEW stage production inspired by the 1968 FILM from George A Romero. RED CABIN THEATRICAL and producer Frazer Brown (Toxic Avenger, Trey Parker’s Cannibal! The Musical) will be bringing the show to ‘LIFE’ in late 2019. The production will be staged in a brand new ‘site specific’ venue in the heart of the West End. “They’re coming to get you Barbara” Night of the Living Dead is an Immersive stage play, a story of survival, strangers, scares and striking social commentary. ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
“WHEN THERE’S NO MORE ROOM IN HELL – THE DEAD WILL WALK THE EARTH” Set in America 1968. There is panic throughout the nation as the dead suddenly come back to life. The Play follows a group of strangers who barricade themselves in an old farmhouse in an attempt to remain safe from these bloodthirsty, flesh-eating monsters.”

“It’s been a life long dream of mine to bring George A Romero’s Night of the living Dead to the stage and I’m excited the stars have aligned for it to happen in 2019, after our initial workshops in 2016 – and what better time to announce than George A Romero’s birthday! Also hot on the tail of the films 50th anniversary! – It’s been a long journey from a seed of an idea in 2006 to our development workshops in 2016, Along the way we have had wonderful support from some of the people involved in the original film, I think we’ve created a loving tribute to the ‘ZOMBIE’ film that started it all.
There have of course been ‘comedy’ stage versions and ‘musical’ versions in the interim years since I started on this version in 2006, but Romero created such a rich tapestry that there is room for many interpretations and takes, His story continues to inspire creatives worldwide. We’re ready to show the world our ‘take’ inspired by George A Romero’s iconic masterpiece with the respect and reverence it deserves. I hope when audiences travel with us to rural USA, 1968 they will agree, I’m excited for the journey ahead”

Night of the Living Dead will be the inaugural production at SPACE 18. A brand new site-specific West End venue housed within the same complex as multi million pound Theatrical HORROR event ‘VARIANT 13’

Weird Stuff is great! And the more the merrier, VARIANT 31 will be the biggest Immersive experience in Europe, my hats off to Big Dreamer Productions for bringing US style Horror Theatre to the UK. I’m excited to be hosted by them. With other exciting genre productions such as The Exorcist, Toxic Avenger and The Twilight Zone being produced, I’m hopeful for a ‘Horrific’ future on the West End Theatre scene”
ABOUT ‘NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD’ THE FILM:
Night of the Living Dead is a 1968 American independent horror film written, directed, photographed and edited by George A. Romero, co-written by John Russo, and starring Duane Jones and Judith O’Dea. The story follows seven people who are trapped in a rural farmhouse in western Pennsylvania, which is besieged by a large and growing group of “living dead” monsters. Film scholars and critics, despite its being heavily criticised upon its release for its explicit gore, have regarded Night of the Living Dead as a cult classic. It eventually garnered critical acclaim and has been selected by the Library of congress for preservation in the National film registry as a film deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
GEORGE A ROMERO:
George A. Romero never set out to become a Hollywood figure; by all indications, though, he was very successful. The director of the groundbreaking “Living Dead” films was born February 4, 1940 After graduation he began shooting mostly short films and commercials. He and his friends formed Image Ten Productions in the late 1960s and they all chipped in roughly $10,000 apiece to produce what became one of the most celebrated American horror films of all time: Night of the Living Dead (1968). Shot in black-and-white on a budget of just over $100,000, Romero’s vision, combined with a solid script written by him and his “Image” co-founder John Russo (along with what was then considered an excess of gore), enabled the film to earn back far more than what it cost; it became a cult classic by the early 1970s. This production is respectfully inspired by George A Romero’s film and not associated with his estate.

Red Cabin Theatrical was established to ‘PUT THE CULT BACK IN TO CULTURE’ bringing Mondo, Horror and Cult projects to the stage. Frazer Brown is a film and Theatre producer, writer and director – he has fast established himself on the London theatre scene for producing quirky and cult theatre, starting in 2008 with the first Large Scale production of Trey Parker Cannibal the Musical (which he directed in a five star production quoted as “pure genius” and a ‘‘Comedic Valhalla’) dubbed the ‘King of Theatrical Horror’ he is the ‘go to’ for investing and producing cult, strange and unusual plays and Musicals amongst fellow producers. He has produced and invested in over 50 productions since 2007.
