We have some trailer and release news today for a new release, Punk rock is alive and kicking in Punk Kids, a thoroughly entertaining new film that will delight the whole family with its mighty and moving tale of determination and the enduring power of music.
The film is the feature debut of one-to-watch director Mike Heff and stars American rapper, singer and songwriter Gunna, alongside Jamal Trulove (The Last Black Man in San Francisco). A love letter to teenage rebellion and the transformative power of music, Punk Kids will be available on UK digital platforms from 14 October 2024, courtesy of Miracle Media.
Elmo (Wynton Odd – Freshman Year, Blindspotting) and his best friends Sid (Kai Nau) and Nancy (Stephanie Heiner – Avenue Of The Giants) have a garage band together called Snotty and dream of performing at the legendary punk rock venue, the 429 Theatre. Sid, a die-hard punk, refuses to play anywhere else, but with the 429 out of reach, their only shot is the school talent show. Determined to
stick to their punk principles, Elmo comes up with a plan to make it happen without compromising their integrity.
Elmo recruits Ruby (Jasmine Corley), a young singer from his family church, to help Snotty deceive the talent show judges and ensure their place on stage… but it’s not long before the band’s true intentions are exposed. Will they still get their chance to rock out at the talent show?
In Punk Kids, the message is clear: chase your dreams whatever the cost, it’s the most punk rock thing you can do.
