Some game related movie news for you today dear readers as Vertigo Releasing has announced the acquisition of RATCHET & CLANK; based on one of the best-selling PlayStation video game series of all time.
The video game has been a firm favourite with many gamers, so it’s going to be interesting to see how gamers take to the movie adaptation that features a supporting voice cast including Paul Giamatti [Chairman Drek] John Goodman [Grimroth] Disney Star Bella Thorne [Cora] Rosario Dawson [Elaris] and Sylvester Stallone as the voice of Victor Von Ion.
RATCHET & CLANK tells the story of two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way they’ll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
Rupert Preston of Vertigo states, “Ratchet & Clank is an amazing franchise which we’re thrilled to be bringing to the big screen. The characters will appeal to both children and their parents.”
Rupert Preston and Edward Noeltner from Cinema Management Group conducted the deal.
“We are delighted to have Vertigo as our partner in the UK and are excited to see them giving this amazing franchise a wide release”, said CMG president Edward Noeltner whose company has been handling the international sales of the film on behalf of Rainmaker Studios, Blockade Entertainment and Film Financial Services.”
Ratchet & Clank will be in cinemas from 29th April 2016. The theatrical release coincides with Sony PlayStation’s new Ratchet & Clank video game, which will be exclusively available on PlayStation 4.
