Sad news on the website today as we bring you news that “comedian and actor Rik Mayall died this morning aged 56“, a spokesman for Brunskill Management said today.
Richard Michael “Rik” Mayall (7 March 1958 – 9 June 2014) was an English comedian, writer and actor. Mayall is best known for his comedy partnership with Adrian Edmondson, his over-the-top, energetic portrayal of characters and as a pioneer of alternative comedy in the early 1980s. He appeared in numerous sitcoms including The Young Ones, Blackadder, The New Statesman and Bottom and the big screen in comedy films Drop Dead Fred and Guest House Paradiso. – Wikipedia
Blackadder producer John Lloyd has described Rik Mayall as “just extraordinary”

Rik Mayall’s wife: “I don’t think it was a heart attack”
Rik Mayall’s wife has said that she “doesn’t think” her comedian husband died from a heart attack, and suggested he may have suffered a fit.
Speaking outside the couple’s home in Barnes, south-west London, make-up artist Barbara Robbin said she had no idea what caused 56-year-old husband’s death today.
A pathologist is to conduct the post-mortem following the death of the 56-year-old, who had suffered seizures as the result of a head injury he received 16 years earlier.
Mr Chinyere Inyama, a senior coroner for the London Borough of Richmond, has now authorised a post-mortem to investigate what happened, due to be carried out this week.
