Get ready for Gaming! A role-playing game that parents won’t yell at their kids to stop playing and do something educational. SEAPER POWERS, the series of children’s books and films along with a soundtrack, teaches children about sea health and the importance of being environmentally conscious.
KRIS HALO PIERCE aka DJ Halo who works with Kim on her EDM project along with the book series, soundtrack, film and new colouring book came up with an idea to turn the story into a role-playing game. Being a Dungeons and Dragons fan it was easy to turn the Seaper Powers story into a game.
“The idea of turning Kim’s story into a game originated from wanting a way to present the story to kids as I helped with PR endeavors. I play a lot of Dungeons & Dragons with my own kids, and after one session my youngest asked if I could go to her school and play these games with her and her classmates. Whereas Kim will go into schools and libraries and read from her book series, I wanted a way to fully engage with the kids; get them talking and give them ownership of the story. I found inspiration from a popular children’s version of D&D, and after a bit of back and forth with children’s gaming author, Susan J. Morris, I adapted the story of In Search of Bleu Jay’s Treasure into an easy, fun, educational, narration-based game.”
Game synopsis: Become Emma, Steve, Oliver, and friends, on a narration-based adventure to overcome the foes that Bleu Jay defeated, with strategy and bravery, to uncover this pirate’s lost treasure.
The game is currently in digital PDF form, with a printed version currently being tested by a group of moms around the USA. About the book series, Seaper Powers is a children’s series following the adventures of Emma and her sea creature friends. The latest book, “In Search of Blue Jays Treasure” has been recognized by the Purple Dragon Book Awards. Ms. Cameron has been touring elementary schools and libraries across the country reading her stories and encouraging ocean conservation to children.
