Cineworld is bringing us some frights with their first Secret Screaming!

Over the years of being a Cineworld Unlimited member, we have had some amazing movies as part of the Cineworld Secret Screenings, now Cineworld has announced the very first Secret Screaming which will be taking place on July 3rd. With this being the first Secret Screaming it’s time to speculate on what the film could be. The age certificate for the upcoming screening is listed as 18 on the website. While the listed runtime is only 90 minutes, this could be a red herring.

I always find secret screenings to be extremely exciting. As we enter the cinema, we have no idea what the movie will be and love the excitement for a surprise. The Cineworld Secret Screaming is open to non-unlimited members too, so now everyone gets the chance to experience the same treat that we Unlimited Members get during the Unlimited Secret Screenings from time to time.

With the news of the Cineworld Secret Screaming, we thought we would take the opportunity to see what film could be shown on July 3rd.

Horror movies are certainly on the rise in the cinemas lately and it’s great to see the genre back, although there aren’t that many set for release before July 3rd.

MaXXXine – July 5th

Now this is certainly a film that many of us have been waiting for with the final in the trilogy of Ti West’s movies that started with X, then the superb Pearl and now MaXXXine.

In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx (Mia Goth) finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.

Longlegs – July 12

This is another horror that many of us have been waiting for and it’s finally had its UK release date announced for July 12th, it’s certainly looking like we are going to get some serious scary “cage rage” in this one from Nic Cage. I’ve certainly got my fingers crossed for this one.

In pursuit of a serial killer, an FBI agent uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree. Starring Maika Monroe, Nicolas Cage and Blair Underwood.

In a Violent Nature – July 12 – THE FILM THAT WAS SHOWN

Now from what we have seen from the trailer, this is a movie not for the faint of heart and it certainly looks like a good horror to scare the hell out of people.

When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year-old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. Check out our review of In A Violent Nature.

Movies That Are Far Off but You Never Know!

These are the wildcards for the Cineworld Secret Screaming as they are pushing way past July 3rd, but you never know if we could be getting to a very early “screaming” of a film that is into August, it has been known in the past for Cineworld to treat us with a film a month in advance. So here are my wildcard possibilities for the Secret Screaming.

TRAP – August 2

The film sees M. Night Shyamalan return to the director’s chair for the tantalizingly named “Trap,” which is expected to exude the same twisty tension as classics like “Split” and “Glass.” This psychological thriller centres around a father (Josh Hartnett) and his teen daughter (Ariel Donoghue) who attend a pop concert and soon realize that they are in the middle of a dark and sinister event.

Alien: Romulus – August 16

Ridley Scott has been busy creating the world of Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. However, the latest instalment, directed by Fede Álvarez (Evil Dead), will be a standalone adventure set between the events of Alien and Aliens.

Alien: Romulus has been on the lips of the fans for a while now and it is expected to offer a different story from the previous films. While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Some ideas on what the Cineworld Secret Screaming could be. It could even be something very unexpected!
